Rust on Exhaust - Black sludge on Garage Floor

My wife found the concrete guy from a referral and his bid was thousands less than 2 other bids. First crack was under a year, she decided not to pursue warranty with them because it's a small family business.

But that pic is also evidence of what happens when you use the lowest bidder. The garage and Mav have that in common it seems.

They did the driveway also and I don't think there are any cracks in it, yet.

Stress cracks in concrete are normal - likely a combo of too wet concrete and not enough time to cure before parking on (the first makes the second almost impossible not to do), and even then it is still likely to crack.

The pitting also not surprising where the treads are. I would not fret the quality of work.

If it does bug you - you can revitalize that garage floor with an epoxy coating easy!

There are only two kinds of concrete, cracked and one that is going to crack.

When people ask my how I like the Maverick…I tell them if Ford would have asked Toyota or Honda to build their truck it would have been a home run!

So it can be among the 2.5M Hondas just recalled? LOL

I painted my exhaust with heat paint while on the lift getting undercoated. Pretty much a waste of time but my OCD manifested itself and I had no choice. Given how little I drive, the muffler will most likely rot out from the inside out in not much more than a year anyway. From what I can see these mufflers are pure garbage. That is when I get my cat back system. No down pipe.

The muffler on my 2025 Lariat Hybrid looks worse. My first warranty claim was denied. A Ford service representative. I noticed the rust at 1100 miles in March. I took delivery in January. Ford blames road salt. We had a few snow storms this year, but I always had the vehicle washed including the undercarriage. I paid $42,000 for this rust bucket. My ten-year-old Honda CRV never had rust problems, and my wife’s two-year-old Equinox’s muffler is still shiny and new looking. I am filing a class action lawsuit. Maverick owners need to teach Ford a lesson. My truck is azure gray and looks very nice so it attracts a lot of attention in parking lots. Folks come up and ask me about it. I advise them not to buy a Maverick. I think I have cost Ford at least three future sales so far. There was a lot of hype for a piece of junk. Here are pics the day of delivery and the muffler two months later.

on the one hand, I'm always kinda glad when newer members search.

on the other, the muffler on the Maverick is not stainless steel as noted several times in this thread, and in the first post you can also see a toyota muffler that is stainless.

maverick mufflers all develop surface rust pretty fast. good luck in your class action lawsuit.
