I dislike running boards, but I understand that some people due to age or physical impairments need them. The reason I dislike them is they tend to make it harder for me to get in and out of a vehicle, and never seem to be sticking out wide enough for me to actually use as a step: I just have to take a larger step over them to get into vehicles. They also in many cases make it much harder to set a lift/hoist under the vehicle when servicing them as they typically bolt up in the area of the lifting points for the vehicle. And then we have the power running boards, which seem to knock me right in the shin when I open the door and a customer has them turned on to automatically deploy when the door opens. lol

I think they look sharp! The remark on making it easier to wash the roof and dry it off would be a selling point for me. I"m 6'4" and reach to my max in doing these two things.

What do you think?

I think they look good. If the Maverick is lifted, even better. One big reason I like running boards on trucks/Jeeps is that they protect against door dings.

Get you some of these (for drying):

https://www.harborfreight.com/premium-xl-plush-drying-towel-6-sq-ft-64312.html

I'm 6'1" and it gets me both sides without having to step on anything. The rear window is another story, but it can be done. Most times I chose to stand in the bed to be thorough. Takes me two of those towels to dry the whole truck in great detail. They really are great towels and I have 6 of them now. Don't tumble dry on heat though (for any towel like these). If the truck is already clean and I'm just doing a quick wash, one of them is all I need.

Thanks! Me and Harbor Freight are good buddies :)
My current store is out of stock, may have to drive some to next store that has them in stock, but what the hey, my hybrid likes these quick road trips!

My Maverick isn’t here yet, but I won’t be putting running boards on it. not because I don’t like the look, it’s just not necessary. My trade-in (or sell or whatever) is a 2011 Ranger 4x4 w/ running boards that I have never used. I just believe in functional mods, not cosmetic ones. But if you like them, go for it.

Great idea, we just had harbor freight open up near me last month. I'll keep an eye out, been using The Absorber synthetic chamois, works well and can wring it out to do the whole car but isn't as large and can leave smaller droplets vs. fully dry.

https://www.amazon.com/CleanTools-149-Natural-Single-Absorber/dp/B09ZK7VF2X/?th=1

In the meantime I'll be balancing on the jam with the door open when doing the roof, although the one style of running boards do look pretty good. Wondering if I drop the hybrid on Eibach springs maybe I won't need any steps or boards to reach.

I have never used a PVA Chamois. The HFT Cooling towel is a 13" x 31-1/4" PVA towel. Would this be an economical choice?

I put them on mine but really for the dog so she can step down easily 🐶

Looks nice! My Lariat is scheduled for build mid January '24, and I've been thinking about adding steps for a couple reasons. My 74 years young wife is 5' 0" and would likely appreciate a step. Also I hand wash my vehicles, weather permitting, and the step would help my 5' 10" body reach the roof. Question: how solid is the mounting point for a step?

Hi - I’ve had it 5 months and find it very solid. The hardware it came with is very heavy duty 👍

Thanks. I wondered how well the unibody would handle the weight.
