Nice sunny day here so I rolled the camper out of the garage today to exercise the tires and to make sure the Maverick was set up correctly (hitch height/lights/brake controller). Hoping Spring isn't too far off.

I've got a '24 Ecoboost FX4 with the 4K package. We are seriously contemplating the T@b 320S and I would be very interested to learn about your towing impressions and experience with the RV. Thanks in advance for your response.

We are seriously contemplating the T@b 320S and I would be very interested to learn about your towing impressions and experience with the RV. Thanks in advance for your response.
Will be towing it with the Maverick starting in the Spring. Towed it with a Bronco Sport up till now. Mav should have no problem towing the T@B 320S since it has twice the towing capability with 4K.

Thoughts on towing a rig like yours with a hybrid? Does it weigh over 1500?[In CA brakes are required if the gross weight of the trailer is over 1500lbs.] Did you use a brake controller when you towed with your Bronco Sport? Other thoughts or caveats concerning towing with a hybrid?

Smart choice to check the lights, That's how I discovered the running light problem on my '23 XLT 4K that eventually led to a recall.

Can't safely tow it with a hybrid. Weighs 2,065 pounds dry (no water/propane/battery). This is an AWD 2.0 Ecoboost with a 4K tow package that has an integrated brake controller from the factory.

Thanks. You've got a beautiful rig. Of course, your list is daunting, and I need to learn quickly the difference between a small camper and a teardrop trailer. Naturally, price will be my ultimate concern. Thanks again for your overwhelming response!!!

Thank you for the useful info. I knew I would encounter limits with the hybrid. [I had a 2016 GMC Canyon V6, tow pkg 7K+ lbs rated and never towed anything. I much prefer driving the Mav everyday compared to the Canyon]

That trailer posted would be FINE with a hybrid. There are at LEAST a dozen people in these threads towing things like that, even a tad more with the hybrid. All sing the praises of how capable the hybrid is.

The transmission is well suited. Never any "hunting" for gears. The hybrid comes standard with better cooling capacity than the standard EcoBoost.

The hybrid falls between the 2k Ecoboost and the 4k IMHO. Truthfully, at 2k the hybrid needs no compromises. Ford is saying it will do the 2k at any speed on any road. If you tow a little MORE your speed will need to be a little less. That's the only compromise I know of.

You will want to ADD a trailer brake controller and 7 pin trailer connector.
And adding any OBDII data reader is a really good idea. I'm an avid reader and researcher and towed a 3,000 lb. high profile trailer 20,000 miles with an ESCAPE hybrid. Why would the Mav be less capable than an Escape?

The Mav Hybrid even has a tow mode and the Escape I had didn't.

Each has to decide. But I wouldn't sweat it with something like pictured here. Just keep it in the right lane on mountain grades.

P.S. I am seriously considering getting one of these for use with my hybrid.... or even a step UP. I'm looking for a separate bed and dinette because lets face it. I want to be lasy while camping and not make the bed every night and make the table every morning. I've moved heavy machinery on a utility trailer with my Mav and it was easy. Smooth ride. No fuss. No stress. No trouble keeping up with slow lane traffic everywhere we went.

Obviously this isn't me since this is a scale model. The real one had business name and logos I'm not allowed to post. So this is next best.
But this was easy for the hybrid mav equipped with trailer brake control.

I can tell you that 2,000 will be the safe limit for towing in the mountains with a hybrid. Even then it will be a struggle on long hills. My Bronco Sport with 2,000 pound towing (same horsepower as the hybrid and a larger transmission cooler for towing) was right on the edge when towing on long upgrades. It was fine on level ground but the transmission got hot towing up long grades and the engine struggled. It's why I traded it for the Maverick with 4K. Anyone telling you you can tow anywhere safely over the tow rating is full of crap. Will it tow over 2,000? sure. Will it tow safely? Ford says no. The hybrid doesn't have the power or the transmission for towing safely beyond it's tow limit. Somewhere there's a weak point. You don't want to find it.
