My cousin's brother in-laws friend towed a 35' car hauler with a geo metro. Don't try to tell me I cannot tow a small 5th wheel with the Maverick

Everywhere including SAE published TOWING GUIDELINES

It is a voluntary (not mandated by any agency) system to comparison shop vehicles.

Your reading comprehension isn't very good. It is a guide to compare different manufacturer's vehicles towing capacity so they're all using the same parameters. When Ford states the "Maximum Towing Capacity" in their towing guide it means just that. Maximum Towing Capacity is not just a general recommendation.

I 100% agree with you. In fact, I will not tow more than 80% of the tow rating when I am towing in the mountains!

When I'm in the mountains I tow a little more and slow down 30%.

Which is good for me.
And the truck doesn't mind.
