My cousin's brother in-laws friend towed a 35' car hauler with a geo metro. Don't try to tell me I cannot tow a small 5th wheel with the MaverickPffff, what use are facts in this discussion? We have anecdotal evidence and opinions at our disposal.
So based on the facts (manufacturer's specifications) and specification SAE J2807, it can't tow over 2,000 pounds. Based on your non-expert opinion it should. Got it.People are treating two vastly different concepts as the same.
"Should do" is a philosophy. It is subjective. It is a personal opinion.
It is based on personal beliefs.
"Can do" is based on actual observations. It is objective. It is factual. It is based on well known science and engineering concepts.
You have it backward. So based on the facts (manufacturer's specifications) and specification SAE J2807, it can't tow over 2,000 pounds. Based on your non-expert opinion it should. Got it.![]()
Your reading comprehension isn't very good. It is a guide to compare different manufacturer's vehicles towing capacity so they're all using the same parameters. When Ford states the "Maximum Towing Capacity" in their towing guide it means just that. Maximum Towing Capacity is not just a general recommendation. You have it backward.
It does not say that. Anywhere.
Towing GUIDELINES.
Everywhere including SAE published TOWING GUIDELINES
It is a voluntary (not mandated by any agency) system to comparison shop vehicles.
Look it up.
But thanks for playing "Name that often misunderstood concept" game.
I 100% agree with you. In fact, I will not tow more than 80% of the tow rating when I am towing in the mountains!Your reading comprehension isn't very good. Good for you!I 100% agree with you. In fact, I will not tow more than 80% of the tow rating when I am towing in the mountains!
