Happy Thanksgiving Everybody!

After waiting 13 months for my Maverick and researching roll up bed covers during my wait I finally settled on the X4S. Got a great deal though RealTruck.com!

After getting it installed I’m having fitment issues on the driver’s side tailgate and I wanted to ask if anybody is having the same issues? After searching YT and the forum I found issues but not related to the tailgate.

Essentially it’s not sitting flush on the drivers side and sits about 1/4” too high. I’ve uploaded some pictures and a video in hopes some of you have an idea of how to get it to sit flush along the entire tailgate.

I would also edit your post and @Realtruck so they see this and can help you as well.

Do you have the front stop against the bed on both sides so it’s square? You are just out of wack a bit. Just work with it and you’ll be fine.

Yes I do. I actually took off the rails several times to make sure it was square and no luck on getting that flush.

I tried the BAK Revolver X4S with Truxedo's Elevate rails and it was 5/16" too wide to fit, so I had to return it. There were also a few other reasons I didn't like it. One was the really awful plastic corner caps on the rear. They are quite fragile and when broken, allow access to the locking mechanism. I also found the extruded aluminum mounting rails to be too wide (impede reach over side) and too fragile (easily damaged by payload). I also thought the locking lever stuck out too far into the tailgate area on each side and would be a problem loading items like furniture.
Yes, I may be too picky, and may have to build my own folding tonneau from aluminum tread plate. It should not be this hard to find a secure hard tonneau that fits.

I think the locks on any brand of these covers are there to keep the honest people out. I did have one of those plastic corner pieces arrive damaged and BAK promptly sent me two more new ones for each side.

Is your cover track fully seated in the rail channel (all the way to the end) and not hanging up from not being properly square? It's likely not latching on the drivers side, and you may have to slide your left rail down a touch. Just make sure your rails are lined up in the same position on both sides and your cover is squared up. Good luck.

I had to work through some fitment issues on mine. They were much easier to do than the Truxedo Pro X15 I had tired before it.

Looks like the rails are ‘tipped up’, at the back. Mine had foam strips on the back side of the rails and they were near the top, I moved mine towards the bottom; helped a lot. Also, how high or low you put on the clamp can adjust the rail’s tilt.

FYI - The metal part of the box, the rail clamps to, does not run all the way to the end of the box, it flexs a little near the tailgate so you may need to adjust for that.

The other thing I did was put a little more foam on the end of the rail at the cab. I did this so the back of the rail was closer to the tailgate.

Realtruck will send you foam shims if you need them; all need to do is ask. One of my end caps came cracked, they sent me new ones as well. Had no issues ever since, been over a year.

I had the same problem to a lesser degree with my Lo-Max trifold. Two trips back to the installer and it was close to correct. They added automotive rubber gasket stick-on material along the tailgate edges also. Said that used to be standard on pick-ups but not anymore.

All that made things 99% ok, but I added hardware store black foam expanding foam gasket along the back of lid and the leakage issue should be solved. Wondering if some trucks have a small misalignment of the box during manufacturing? Had a 17 F-150 with the same cover and no issues right from the start??
