I ordered my Maverick XL Hybrid in September 2022 and picked it today. I am returning it tomorrow. The truck drove fine in the city, but 20 minutes on the highway was enough. I don't think the Maverick hybrids are highway vehicles. My father's 1972 bare-bones F100 drove better. I've never been more disappointed in my life.

You can just return it like a pair of shoes that don't fit? Well, anyway, too bad you waited 16 months for something that did not work out. Bummer.

Maybe an EcoBeast will work out for you. I love mine, best pickup I ever owned. Just today a third friend came over to try out my truck and ordering one just like it Friday. He was totally impressed especially the power and the AWD system. They are a bitchin' truck. :ROFLMAO: (y)

It was tiring to drive. The steering is heavy. It feels like there was no power steering and/or it's severely out of alignment. A lot of reviews say it drives more like a car than a truck. Not this one. My expectations weren't high going in knowing that it is an inexpensive vehicle.

Strange. I've never driven the hybrid and I've been quite vocal about certain faults these have, but I do think it drives like a car and quite easily at that. Minus the length, it feels exactly like the Escape that it shares a platform with.

That is why it is called variable ratio power steering. The ratio changes the faster you go. The heaviness as you call it is there for a reason. Try a Santa Cruz. They feel like a mush melon going down the road, may be more to your liking.

Mavericks are not for everyone. Good luck returning it tomorrow.
