Day 2 of trying to get the rails straight and perpendicular…

I’ve tried with the clamp bolt heads facing the wall of the bed (as per directions), I’ve tried with them facing the inside of the bed. I’ve tried without spacers (none included), and I’ve tried with homemade cut from a silicone bread pan.

My wife has helped with holding the rails as instructed. Nothing works.

The rails look to be of a smaller profile than what I’ve seen in videos.

Has anyone else encountered these issues, and what were the workarounds?

@Mr Pibb - this was one of my concerns. The rails themselves look to be of a much smaller profile than what I have seen. Wondering if this is due to tailoring them to the Maverick.

If flipping the anchors around doesn't work it may be the wrong hardware. It does sorta look like pull the bolt out and screw it all the way through the back of the non slotted version into the nut and washer in the slot.

I think you have the correct parts. Looks like the rails are positioned correctly in that first photo but definitely not in the last one. The clips are not lined up right to secure. I watched this video a couple of times before I installed mine...helped a lot...

I just ran down to look at mine and it appears your clip isn't quite right......Good luck!

Your video has a much clearer picture of the clamps, the ones he has might work but they're assembled wrong for sure.

Slotted side should be facing into the bed

You maybe clapping to wrong channels . I fussed with mine because rails weren't straight and finally figured out clamping to wrong channels on tonneau rails . on my rails the thin upper channel is correct one to use . wider lower channel wouldn't tighten down correctly or hold rail in right position . my tonneau is undercover armor . hope this helps . last picture is of one of my claps on tonneau .

I had inital trouble with my Rough Country rails, as they weren't identified as L or R: finally realized the end with the drain tube fitting was supposed to be at the front (cab) end of the bed, and from there mounting them was no issue. Hope you're able to resolve yours, too.

The clamps don't look right. If somehow they are the correct clamps then they are on backwards.

This style of clamp is what came with the cover

I would like to thank everyone who added their comment(s).

My wife and I took it all apart and started from scratch. I’m still not crazy about the supplied clamps; I’d much prefer the style of clamp that fits right into the channel of the rails as shown in one of @Jah.’s pictures above. It seems that style would provide a much better rail alignment and stability (after closing the cover several times with the “slam” latches, the rails start to tip inward).

Anyway, it’s installed for now. Kind of a bummer that for it’s price it isn’t as stable as one might expect.

Again, my thanks to you all for the suggestions and moral support.

Agree, something doesn’t look right with clamp install. For me it’s a good product. Had one on my 13 F150 parked outside 10 yrs. Factory installed on my Maverick is good & LOTS lighter than the F150. Pictures are clamps on my 24 Maverick Lariat Hybrid.

Where are the flanges for the elevator bolts to fit thru? I'm wondering if you have the correct rails. Ignore the yellow arrow in the pic below.
