I bought my 23 XLT for $35k in February. Right after I bought it, I was contacted by my preferred dealer, who know I was looking but didn’t know that I had found one.

They had a used 22 XLT on the lot, with 24k miles on it. They sold it for 36k!

Looks like if you’ve got one, their resale value is INSANE!!!

Any one else hear of anything like this???

there is a contingent of dealers and sellers with a scalpers mentality. some buyers ordered 2 or more with the sole objective of scalping/flipping them.

seems to be regional. high demand areas see high prices. areas with softer demand are seeing more reasonable pricing, sometimes right at MSRP.

I placed an order in September, then bought an ordered one that buyer backed out on in October. My order is schedule for mid May, not sure really what to do, but dealer where I bought the truck says they want to buy the new one from me? I'd prefer to sell them back the one I have, but we haven't talked $$$'s yet?

I have no plan to sell but I just find that insane. I don’t know if that price included any dealer extras like extended warranty but still, that’s nuts.

I saw a dealer offering a 2022 Maverick XL AWD Eco for $26.8k with 4000 miles on it. Not sure he was buying into the markups I'm seeing in other places.

Sic transit gloria

Enjoy it while it lasts. It's a pitiless, predatory capitalist system. Enjoy the ride up. Brace for the inevitable ride down.

I'm editing this post with this paragraph because at least one person reacted angrily, thinking I was attacking capitalism and the USA in general. Nothing could be further from the truth. The point I was trying and apparently failing to make was "Don't brag about how much money you're gonna make selling your Maverick, because the system pivots on a dime and you can be left holding an asset nobody wants to buy at the price you want to sell it". Phew, that's a lot of words. But my original post apparently required too many brain cells for some to process.

All Glory IS Fleeting, for sure. I Just feel lucky to have one and I can’t believe the way the market it. The down turn will come, and then it will turn up again. Enjoy the ride everyday cos that’s all you’ve got for sure.

I literally just got a call from my dealer saying mine has finally arrived. However life has happened since I've ordered it (new kid, new job, etc) and I'm unsure if it's something I need right now. I'm sure the dealer is perfectly fine with me saying I don't want it because they'll have no problem selling it, likely at an inflated price. But that got me thinking of what would be the better outcome. I'm considering flipping it because I have a neighbor who's been in the hospital's ICU for a couple of weeks after a bad roofing accident and I thought those proceeds could help them out in their bad time. What thoughts do you guys have? On the plus side it will be in the hands of another Maverick customer who will love it very soon.

all used car prices are off the charts
Yes! I traded in my 2020 Civic LX a couple of weeks back for my Maverick and got $3k MORE than I paid for it 3 years ago. Granted, it was extremely well kept with 19k miles, but it is the lower trim level with basic features.
