I had a work trip from Pennsylvania to Kentucky last week and got a 22 Colorado 4x4 with about 1,500 miles from the local Enterprise.

It was basically a brand new truck so certainly nice enough. However, I was not impressed overall for the following reasons:

1. Ride is SUPER stiff. You definitely know you are driving a truck and every bump in the road felt like a foot-deep pothole.
2. Notable engine noise in cabin.
3. People complain about the Maverick having a cheap plastic interior but it can't be any worse than this Colorado. Plastic, plastic and more plastic!

4. No under seat storage in the back row as far as I could tell. Seats cannot be moved. Rear leg room poor.
5. Drop-in bed liner fit poorly. Bulge in bottom lifting away from bed, like it was warped.

6. Apple Car Play connection wonky. Kept losing connection.
7. Mileage just so-so. I averaged 21.9 mpg over nearly 1,300 miles driven per trip computer.

A couple good things:

1. Power from the V6 engine was more than adequate.
2. Driver seat was comfortable for two long days on the road down and back.
3. Leather-wrapped steering wheel was nice, and wheel-mounted cruise control buttons were easy to use.
4. Entertainment system screen was crisp and controls were straightforward. Sirius XM satellite radio was a nice option not available on the Maverick unless you get Lariat LUX.
5. Climate control system worked well.

All in all it was find but like I said, nothing special to me, basic design, stiff ride and really no wow factor whatsoever. Seems to me -- for an extra 10 mpg -- the Maverick stands out with more updated styling and innovative feature such as under seat rear storage bind and FLEX bed.

Did you happen to see the payload sticker? Just curious what it was....

I didn't. I'm sure it has a higher tow capacity then the Maverick -- except this particular truck didn't even have a tow hitch! WTH?

You said it rides super stiff.
I’m not loving how my Maverick doesn’t seem well damped on the imperfect roads. (mine is a hybrid) Is the Colorado worse riding than the 2wd Maverick (from your experience)?

I have no idea. My AWD FX4 Maverick is scheduled to be built next month. I only ever drove one once last November as a test drive but as I recall the ride was much more smooth than what I experienced in the Colorado.

I've also rented F-150s and would say the ride in those is nicer than the Colorado.

Currently own a 2wd 2016 Colorado. I’ve also driven one of my families mavericks. Simply put, the Colorado is way more stiff. Maverick is beautiful in the road compared to the Colorado. (Hybrid mav)

My 2012 Colorado has a lot of under seat storage in the back.

While I no longer own it, my 2018 Colorado was actually very comfortable regarding ride and quietness . It also had underseat storage, although that storage area was not nearly as spacious as in the Maverick.

i hate how every manufacture went with off roading mid size truck- almost full size truck conecpt. The 2023 space of colorado isnt much or at all any better. Smaller bed as well. ;/ Wish they put the general consumer first . Ford is doing that with the maverick. Most people just want truck that drives well and gets good mpg and can fit into their garage. The maverick is the only new truck that does that well.

Whoever put the bed liner on needs to fired it looks like its about to come off. As far woes of driving it is rental so lot of that is just people abusing it . If its riding stiff it probably need brake alignment which it wont get until the brakes start get really bad. Rental companies generally try save on repair cost.
