I had a work trip from Pennsylvania to Kentucky last week and got a 22 Colorado 4x4 with about 1,500 miles from the local Enterprise.
It was basically a brand new truck so certainly nice enough. However, I was not impressed overall for the following reasons:
1. Ride is SUPER stiff. You definitely know you are driving a truck and every bump in the road felt like a foot-deep pothole.
2. Notable engine noise in cabin.
3. People complain about the Maverick having a cheap plastic interior but it can't be any worse than this Colorado. Plastic, plastic and more plastic!
4. No under seat storage in the back row as far as I could tell. Seats cannot be moved. Rear leg room poor.
5. Drop-in bed liner fit poorly. Bulge in bottom lifting away from bed, like it was warped.
6. Apple Car Play connection wonky. Kept losing connection.
7. Mileage just so-so. I averaged 21.9 mpg over nearly 1,300 miles driven per trip computer.
A couple good things:
1. Power from the V6 engine was more than adequate.
2. Driver seat was comfortable for two long days on the road down and back.
3. Leather-wrapped steering wheel was nice, and wheel-mounted cruise control buttons were easy to use.
4. Entertainment system screen was crisp and controls were straightforward. Sirius XM satellite radio was a nice option not available on the Maverick unless you get Lariat LUX.
5. Climate control system worked well.
All in all it was find but like I said, nothing special to me, basic design, stiff ride and really no wow factor whatsoever. Seems to me -- for an extra 10 mpg -- the Maverick stands out with more updated styling and innovative feature such as under seat rear storage bind and FLEX bed.
