Removing the upper grillwork

I‘m exploring possibilities for adding additional external lighting to the front of our Mavericks. Can the upper black portion of the front grillwork come off without a need to dismantle the bumper? That would also mean taking off the trim piece that bridges between the two headlight units. If so, how? Thanks for any ideas you may have.

When I replaced my grille, I had to drop the entire bumper cover. I don't think the upper portion of the grille can come off by itself as it's fastened to the bumper (as well as the brace along the headlights).

It's a lot of bolts, but can be done in a day. This guy does a great job explaining how to drop the bumper if that's what you decide to do (start around the 5 min mark).

Lower part of grill is snapped into bumper cover and is almost impossible to release the pressed in tongs without access of entire cover off .
It’s not bad taking whole thing off. You will spend most of the time messing with inner fender liners and clips , the rest is like 10 minutes.
