If the Maverick is anything like my Equinox was ( I think I read something about it in the Ford website) The Maverick will connect to your home wifi. I believe it's so AT&T doesn't have to push a ton of updates over their network.

If it will connect to your home wifi, then the remote start wouldn't necessarily require you to buy the AT&T data plan. That's assuming you would only want to remote start, while the Maverick is at your home.

This is terrible information. Your truck does not require your home wifi or at&t data plan to remote start from the ford pass app. I own a ton of ford trucks in our fleet. I can start or unlock our vehicles anywhere in the world.

Do your fleet vehicles have Fordpass connect? The vehicle would most certainly need to have an active internet connection, for the "Complimentary" features to work. The only two ways I know of to have that active internet connection, is either connecting the vehicle to wifi or Fordpass connect. My understanding of the original question is wether or not you can use Fordpass to remotely start the vehicle *Without* an internet connection.

No need to connect to home wifi, started my XL from the app yesterday while in a restaurant so it could warm up.

I didn't mean to imply that a home wifi connection was required, only that it was a possible option for people that didn't want to pay for the Fordpass connect internet access.

*Note* If the Fordpass remote start will work anywhere without an active internet connection in the vehicle, I will be the first to admit that I was wrong.

Just to clarify for anyone reading this, you do not need the paid internet hotspot in the vehicle. It has a limited connection always active for free to work with the ford pass app.

You do not have to pay for the ford pass app. I think you are confused

I know the app is free. I was under the impression that an internet connection in the vehicle was required, for all the remote features to work. Since my Maverick was just unloaded from the railcar today and not in my driveway, I cannot verify for myself.

My only experience with remote features via app, is with my Chevy Equinox and they required the (Customer paid-for) active internet connection in the vehicle (Either home wifi, or data service through AT&T) for the remote features to work.

If Ford allows use of the Fordpass remote features without the customer having to supply/pay for an internet connection then that's great!

The last couple posters could not make it more clear.
There is nothing to pay for. The vehicle does indeed connect to the internet but you do not set up any kind of account for the maverick separate from the way they ship.
Your sales person will have you download the app and tie the app to the vin of your truck.

Not so much confused, as unaware. I had no idea Ford would be willing to throw something in with the purchase price that other manufacturers don't. As I said, I learned something.
