Relocate roof antenna?

I'm hoping to remove it and replace it with a cell phone booster antenna. I have a weboost unit that I'd like to install in the maverick. Haven't done anything yet though.

There's little possibility that a BDA can be installed effectively in such a small vehicle.

It could be worse, those gm trucks with it offset in front of the driver, sticks out like a turd in a punchbowl, must have been a contest for the dumbest place to put it.

I’m not a fan either. I don’t understand why they didn’t use the 2020 Escape shark fin only antenna and chose the mast on the shark fin style it has. Only thing I can think is AM reception. That’s why most of your full size trucks still have a mast antenna because a lot of people in truck still listen to AM or so I was told by a GM rep.

I just unscrewed and replaced it with the Stubby Jr. I don’t have a pic but I think I saw it on either the Facebook group or subreddit.

My suburban has two on the roof. Balances out that odd looking single offset antenna.

even if you don’t listen to the radio at all, the next owner of your truck might.

what happens when the cell phones go down?

A guy I used to work with drove 20 miles just the other day to get cell service because his home internet was down and cell phones were down.

“why didn’t you just turn on your radio?”

because his dumbass didn’t have one.

That antenna serves as the AM/FM antenna, cell antenna for the built in Ford cell modem, and the satellite antenna if you have a lux package with Sirius/XM radio.

I have no need for the AM/FM, and not lux, I use the app for Sirius. I was kind of wondering if they had an external antenna for the cell radio, I don't use the hotspot, but I do use the fordpass app, I'll have to dig a little more into how they have it set up. Do you have any schematics of how/where the cell radio and antenna interface? I'm guessing behind the dash as there are 3 antenna plug ins there.
