So is the bad cable in question located BEHIND the cable end that has the black plastic box covering it?
Yes. That is the end of the positive battery harness.

Add my XLT Hybrid to list with this issue, less than 400km (250 miles) on the odo. Within 6 days of getting the truck I got a deep sleep message while trying to get everything set up with Ford Pass so I could get my points. Have an appointment next Thursday to get the truck checked out. I just hope with the information here I can point the service people in the right direction for what to look for. Just for clarification, my truck has not died on me, not yet anyway.

I was hoping this issue was fixed with newer builds. My dealer called me today saying mine has arrived. I will be picking it up Friday or Saturday. I will keep an eye on it..

Mine was built during the month of May, or at least started to be, since the date on the VIN sticker is 5/22.

That could happen without this issue being the cause. For instance having the radio on for a while with the truck off while setting up the Ford Pass app. One time may not be an issue.
You can check if the battery is charging with a dc voltmeter, or OBD adapter and Android app like torque.

Couldn't have had it on for more than a minute before the app told me that it had switched to deep sleep. Drove the truck at least an hour a day all week.

For what it is worth it appears our dealer found out the problem this week with our Maverick going into deep sleep mode. It appears there was a bad cell in the battery so they replaced the whole battery and everything appears fine. Still intermittently getting the Ford Pass notice that it is disabling remote features and putting it into Deep Sleep, but nothing adverse happens. Hopefully the bad cell was all since everything else checked out fine - wiring harness, etc.

we have been buying part number bp319 from our outside vendors and it cost $1.39. Out of the 15 we sold so far we have replaced 4. If and when mine comes in that is the first thing I am getting replaced! It takes the techs about 5-10 minutes start to finish.

Interesting. I thought putting a Copper lug on an Aluminum cable was not advised?

This happened to me... dead as a doornail and as I started contemplating dealing with a service department and getting the thing towed or jumped I realized I didn't have the key. Easy fix, problem solved!

Thanks Samuel. Could you advise, do the techs get in there with a crimping tool to attach the lug? Doesn't look like a lot of space or extra cable to work with.

Cheers.

Skinny, theres enough room in there to get a huge crimper in there.

We could do our own repairs, if thats an approved repair from ford.

I have always rather soldered my lugs on cable, for my projects/vehicles. They are not coming off, my solder joint is not coming off. Its the best bond for electrical conducting and has probably the best mechanical attachment of any type.

Excellent update, are you a Ford Tech?

I’m in parts at a Ford dealership.
So, can you confirm if the bad cable is the one closest to the front of the vehicle, or if it's the one behind it?
If it is the one behind, do you know if the cable can be repaired without removing the fusebox?
