I’ve poked at numerous threads, read through oodles of comments, and can’t make a solid decision on where to head next.
My current situation: 14 month old maverick with factory pirellis (fx4 pkg). They’ve been ok, but not great. I’ve slid around in heavy snow, and I’ve gotten semi stuck in some loose sandy shoulders on roads. I do a decent amount of trail running, camping, etc that takes me off paved roads a few times a month, but not crazy off-roading.
Use case: live in Pittsburgh pa, it’s a work truck (carpentry) and mostly stays on city streets for 90% of this. My hobbies take me on brief stints of rougher stuff, but never more than a few miles at a time
BUT, we have a small cabin in Maine. So thrown in the mix are long highway miles followed by some rural gravel/dirt roads, and heavy snows/ice in winter.
Swap winter specific tires and call it good enough for winter? Do some wildpeaks or similar knobby for better all year? Share your wisdom internet gurus!
