Oh boy, got a rattle. Very distracting. And I’m hard if hearing, wear hearing aid.

At approx 20 mph, on our rough subdivision road, I hear rattle….., but wife says drive the darn truck. I trying soundproofing, moving stuff around, inside the console compartment, and the storage compartments under the rear seat. Basically wrap the stored stuff in old towels or some plastic bubble wrap stuff.

She says hearing rattle coming from under console. And to me, “sounds” like it.

Anyone have similar complaints?

Im not hungry to open up the console to check. I may have to let a dealer do it, but big fear is a tech might test drive it, on a smooth road, hears nothin….and you know what follows after. Chitty chitty, bang bang.

Before going to a dealer, take everything out of the truck that you put in it. That includes under the seats, behind the seats, in the bed. Everything back to the day it was new. See if the rattle is still there.

I too had a mysterious rattle. Turns out it was a from a camping chair in the bed. Remove the chair, rattle gone.

Something about the unibody pickup is that the sounds travel great distances. No isolation between the bed and the cab.

I removed some things, not all. Wrapped lots in towels, plastic bubble wrap. But I might try removing all stuff, go for ride, see if it goes quiet.

Mine is in the dash behind the steering column and instrument cluster and no easy way to get there. Dealer acuity but could not find it. Sounds like a wiring harness came loose. Good luck.

My dash rattles were the speaker grills by the A pillars. I solved it with foam tape.

Don't rule out the defroster vents tapping the base of the windshield, which will sound like it's coming from behind the cluster on the driver side, or glovebox on the passenger side. There's actually a TSB on the issue, where they reach in and insert a couple of foam (weather stripping like) blocks between the vent & glass area to stop the excess movement which causes the rattle on rough roads. - TSB has been posted several times in these forums.

I grabbed some window weatherstripping that was close in dimensions to the foam blocks, reached in and pushed them into the indicated areas, and it eliminated nearly all the rough road rattle. Lining the glovebox & center console with felt quieted the items I keep in those compartments. Between the two, I'm pretty much rattle free on most roads.

TSB did nothing for me. It's the windshield defroster vent on the driver side for me. Pull on the black vent itself towards you while driving and it will stop. Next thing I'll try: WD-40 dry lube.
