Who else went from a Ranger to a Maverick?

I had a couple of Ford Rangers from 1998 to 2009. When our daughter was born in 2008, the Ranger was no longer practical for us, so I decided to get rid of it and replace it with a Ford Flex which was a much more suitable family vehicle. I enjoyed our Flex, but still missed having a Ranger and I figured I'd eventually own another one once our daughter got older.

I missed having a small truck and almost ordered a new Ranger a few years ago when they were first released them, but when Ford announced the Maverick and I saw that they were going to offer a Hybrid version, it was right up my alley and I knew it would be our next vehicle.

It was a long wait, but I'm pretty happy to be back into a small truck, especially one that gets over 40mph and can comfortably fit 4 adults.

I've lost track, but I'm currently driving my 5th or 6th Ford Ranger, this one's a 2008. I've had bigger trucks, but keep gravitating back to small, NEVER understood when the US basically bowed out of the small truck market. Was pretty excited when the New Ranger was introduced - until I saw how big it was! But gotta say, I'm looking forward to the creature comforts of a Mav, compared to this old-school Ranger. May just be that I'm getting old.

(BTW, zoom into the passenger side window. LOL, that cat gets me a lotta laughs, once got me out of a traffic ticket!)

My dad has had a new Hot Pepper Red Ranger for a few years. Really nice truck but as you said they are quite big. I see you ordered Hot Pepper Red for your Maverick, I almost went with that color but figured I'd go with something different since my dad already had that color in his Ranger LOL

I'm going with HPR because it's the color of truck I learned to drive on, about 1000 years ago, and (importantly) so I can FIND my truck when I come out of Home Depot, lol! Where I live, on any given day the HD parking lot is just an endless sea of white trucks!

Two of my previous Rangers were that same green and red as yours!

Pretty sure your Maverick will do better than 40 mph....you're just not trying hard enough. 😉

Jokes aside, I had an '89 Ranger and a 2000 Mazda B-2300. (Which was a Ranger in everything but name.) And though I liked them both fine and they performed well, my Maverick is better in every way for my purposes and a lot more satisfying.

I never owned a Ranger, but I went from a Ranger order to a Maverick order. I don’t know when I’ll get my Maverick, but if I had stayed with the Ranger order, I would have it sometime before the end of the year. My dealer didn’t cancel the order, so “my” Ranger will end up on their lot.

That's a good looking truck right there! Just out of curiosity, how much are you asking for it?

During the week my wife is the primary driver to commute to work since I work from home. Her commute is 18km/11 miles each way and consist of a mixture of city/highway driving and she usually gets between 8 and 8.5km on All Electric each way. So on her 36km commute each day, she is getting about 16 to 17km on Electric. So she's almost going to work 1 way for free on All Electric.

Last week just for fun she managed 6.5L/100km or 43.5mpg including letting the Maverick warmup for about 10 minutes each morning and running studded winter tires. Best I've seen yet on a smaller trip that consist of highway/city driving is 4.2L per 100km which is about 56mpg. We've also gotten as low as 3.4L in town and a few All Electric drives.

I was actually just ribbing you a little over "mph" vs "mpg". My job involves a lot of proofreading for accuracy, so things like that jump out at me. I should probably get a life. 😜

But those are some impressive numbers considering the colder weather you must be having up there. I've found my efficiency drops a lot in the winter....and winters are pretty mild around here. Still amazing for a truck though.

I had two previous generation Rangers. I'd still be driving it if I'd had the prescience to buy AWD back in 2010. I miss the nimbleness of my single cab - the Maverick feels like a whale in comparison (I'm currently in a very congested area with tiny streets and cars parked both sides). The Maverick is NOT a city truck. My Ranger single cab (foot shorter in length, and shorter turning radius) was right at home.

I'll say the Maverick blows my Rangers out of the water in manners. No axle hop. No teeth jarred out on bumpy roads. Way more amenities (but I paid $31,500 for them).

04 Ranger XLT supercab to First Edition Hybrid. Love my new Mav, twice the gas mileage and the ride is much smoother. My dog loves the backseat.
