@HybridMavGalUPDATE 6-8-26: We had another couple days of very heavy rain and yes, another massive overflow into the entire cab (7 inches of rain in two days). The dealership kept it for 6 days, pulling all the seats, the headliner, all the carpets/mats - they did a great job isolating where and how this is happening. An A.R.E. canopy was installed in March 2026. Both water intrusions happened after this. The installer foot the bill on this one, as it was installed too close to the back of the truck cab, and the water could not escape fast enough out the sides. It was became a pool back there and it all went through the back window. That meant water behind the back seat, under the back seat and in the battery well there, in the ceiling and down the back columns, the front of the cab as well. Any sort of tree debris that was stuck between the canopy and cab also seems to have contributed to the problem. The canopy installer adjusted the canopy back 1/16" of an inch and 7 hours of water testing was completed without issues. Just to be safe on any tree debris (I park outside) in the future, I am now blocking the top spacing between the canopy/cab with a few simple foam backer layers that are zip tied together. The truck has no mold/mildew smells thankfully, the dealership did a great job preventing this from happening. The maverick being a uni-body truck contributes to water escapement concerns, IMO. Hope this helps someone!
Could you please post a picture of your fiberglass A.R.E. topper and the foam addition you made.
From a logical point of view. I feel you are absolutely correct.
Unibody construction on the Maverick, is not conducive to having a hard camper style top bed cover. Unlike traditional body/bed on frame. There is no area for water to drain between the cab and the bed. Especially a heavy downpour, like you had and if there's leaves involved.
Plus we have a DAM on each side of the cab. That inhibits water drainage.
I'm glad that the installer took care of you expense wise.
Hopefully the reposition and the foam resolve the issue.
