So, I've got a 2023 xlt hybrid and the radio is do the occasional pop. Buttons this Saturday, it did no audio. Went and hit the radio power button and nothing, the sharp pop and the audio kicked in. Powered the truck once I pulled over and the button to power off still was not powering off. Left truck for 5 min and tried again. Buttons working. Trying to book an appointment with ford dealer now only 5400km on truck.

Wish I could pop the old Craig 8-track am-fm in the dash…the radio piece of the Maverick is my only negative thing I can say about it 20 months and 11,000 miles in.

I know this is an old thread, but I’m checking to see if anyone figured this out. I’ve had the loud static pop about 5 times since buying the truck new. It’s done it twice in the last week. My truck is at the dealer now getting recalls done (side airbags, abs and trailer software updates). When I brought up this issue to the service advisor, he said he hadn’t heard of this before and I’d have to schedule a different appointment.

Hey there, David! Can you please send me a PM with your VIN and dealer name/location so I can look into this radio static sound concern for you? To send a private message, just click on our username and select "Start Conversation". I'd be happy to see what I can do to assist!

This has happened on a very random basis for me as well. I can't say if it is every time I drive it, but it is fairly regular (but unpredictable).

It is just another one of many glitches with the infotainment system. No amount of checking VINs, or dealer visits will solve this. Its just a poorly designed system that Ford should be ashamed of.

Mine did it for the first time today. I’m surprised I didn’t suffer hearing loss from how loud the radio popped. Definitely not looking forward to it happening again.

Mine is usually not that loud. I really haven't figured out if it changes with my volume control. There seems to be some variance here among owners on how loud the pop is.

23 Lariat Hybrid, just over 1000 miles:

Friday as I was heading home for the day, I pressed the Start button and the big screen did not come on. The dash screen was on and the radio was working. I turned the truck off and the startup animated started to play before realizing it needed to shut down instead. Gave it a second, re-started and everything worked fine.

Didn't drive it Saturday as I was off work.

Going into work today, had a brief but LOUD burst of static from the speakers when I pressed the Start button. So loud a family member jumped when they heard it from 12 feet away. Truck started and screens came on, but there was no audio from the radio. I didn't have time to mess with it so I headed in, about 3 minutes down the road the radio quietly came to life and worked without issue for the rest of the day.

I didn't have time to contact my dealer's service team today, saw this topic and decided to see if anyone's learned anything new about this issue.

Don't waste your time with the dealer. This unit is just glitchy. It will do strange things on a random basis. Sometimes it gets stuck booting, sometimes black screen. Sometimes it doesn't allow browsing, random pops. It is what it is...unless Ford comes up with a complete system replacement for us anyway. I suspect swapping units won't make any difference.

My '23 XLT hybrid does this too; maybe 1-2 times a week? The sound through the speakers kinda fades out and then a static pop is heard. I think it's the AMU restarting, trying to recover from a fault. I've updated the radio software but it still does it.

The radio sometimes forgets the USB input exists, the music gets distorted or the entire unit just freezes up. It seems like I have to perform a soft reset at least once a week (power and FF buttons together).

As soon as a kit to swap to an aftermarket radio is available, I'm replacing it the factory radio.

Mine does the same thing but my dealer won't fix it since they "can't reproduce it." Won't even document it. Guess its just another issue that they're hoping won't catastrophically break before 32k miles.

My 2024 xl does it every couple of days. The radio will go silent and the pop then it comes back on and no problem. I was thinking someone put a tracking device on my vehicle but since it’s happening to others it is a glitch. I will do a sweep of the vehicle to see if a tracking device is on my vehicle.I just think it’s a problem with the radio unit. I have 2,005 miles on it.

Someone who was really into audio who had a Maverick talked about this on Reddit, typically popping noises like this in an audio system are due to poorly manufactured capacitors on the circuit board.

reviving this thread, anybody actually get this issue resolved? My 2023 XLT hybrid does this same thing intermittently, can't figure what it correlates to. Just a brief pause from the radio to silence followed by the pop from the speaker and then the volume comes back on.
