Radio and other 8” touch panel issues

2022 Ford Maverick XL AWD 4K package
Howdy, everyone -

I picked up my 2022 Maverick XL AWD 4K tow package from a dealer 10/15/2021. I already have 5,996 miles on it and have noticed the weirdest things with the main 8” audio/control system. When I try to turn the stereo on with the knob and volume, 80% of the time, nothing happens. So, i have to press the touch screen, select main icon “Audio” then radio, FM, and by this time finally… i usually hear something. So i press one of my preset radio stations….. crickets. Nothing. So i sit there and wait. Literally 10-12 seconds later i hear the station change… then 2-3 seconds later i see the station button i selected highlight. LOL

Now, my company does high end electronics, programming, automation… so it’s easy to see bad programming code, slow lag times, etc when you go to use something…. And this Ford Maverick has issues.

so after The audio of the station changes, then the visual button highlights after… I’ll take off in the truck and try to change a station from the left side of the steering wheel controls.

crickets… Nothing. LOL

The volume, preset selector, etc… huge delay times. Sometimes I can’t even turn off the radio, the power won’t respond.

i don’t have my iPhone connected via USB… so the stereo isn’t looking for carplay or anything… I’m just trying to use the radio and it’s a horrible experience.

I called Ford and no one has heard of this and there aren’t any software/firmware updates for the core computer yet, so i guess i have to wait until enough people experience it then they will fix it and push an update to dealers.

just wanted to see if anyone else is having issues with this core system?

And folks wonder why I miss replaceable car audio systems. :rolleyes:

Should have left the infotech to the consumer electronics market.

the sadest part is when I call my service advisor and he hasn’t heard of anything like this. Yet, they have a service bulletin out already from a Ford Technician. I would think that Service Advisors should stay on top of things… but lets be honest, it’s not a Ferrari. So… we wait.

Some folks hate their job and do the minimum. This service adviser MAY be one of them.
