Hi there! Would you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership name and location? I’d like to look into this concern on my end.
Hopefully they do something for you. I don't use wired CarPlay because 99% first call failure. Oddly enough I use the wireless CarPlay adapter and it works fine.

A work around for the first silent call issue is to turn the speakerphone on and back off on the phone. Of course then you have to pick the phone up, which is distracting…

I did that until I got the wireless adapter. It did work some of the time but man was that an annoyance. Quite often I would be too slow and the person on the other line would think the call dropped and hang up. Besides the delay the wireless adapter is good, but not for longer trips or when I need to charge my phone.

What is surprising is that Ford gives a way to update the software and there has not been an update released since last December. I don't see how they are unable to fix at least a few of the issues with the radio software in 9 months.

So a Ford rep told me to PM them for help, then just punted me to fill out a form when I did. If they know the issue - then please just post a resolution here to help everyone.

The resolution is a software fix. Which is costly and money Ford doesn't want to spend since they won't recoup since the truck is already sold. I am sure they are working on it, but not allocating a ton of time and resources. I had my focus 6 years and only got 2 updates to the entertainment software. I expect the same with the Maverick. Maybe in another 6 months there will be an update that resolves most of the issues.

With an IPhone and the Maverick car play I was also having the same issues but it was minor since I use it all the time and audio issues seem to disappear since I started my 1 year subscription with ATT hotspot but the audio did reappear when my iPhone took over the internet connection when I was in the mountains. Last night though I had a an update to my Maverick Sync system and I don’t see the difference on versions of software so I wonder what the update did??

I am having the same problem with no audio on the first call via Carplay. Only had the truck a few weeks. C’mon Ford, this is resolvable with a basic software update.

I update the software and it seems to have fixed most of the issues I was having. Not all but most including the first call issue. I believe it was an octoberish update. Even if you truck is newer the radio still might have the older sofware. There are threads with the new version to look for.

My software is up to date and I continue to have this problem (no audio on first call). It's highly annoying.

I bought a wireless CarPlay device. I don't use wired CarPlay at all.

I have so many problems with the radio. The radio always starts turned off. whenever I get in the truck and start it, the radio says "radio off". So until the wireless CarPlay boots I have no sound.

The ambient lighting turns off and I have to turn it back on in settings every week or two.

The brightness resets to a much lower brightness.

And most telling is that When I check for an update It shows the last update check as the date I installed the last update. Even if I check every day it will reset back to the last update check. I am trying to get as many errors on camera as I can so I can go back to the dealer, who keeps saying there is nothing wrong.

The radio is the only think I hate about my truck and all I want to use it for is settings and CarPlay. It just doesn't do either well.

I didn’t read thru all the posts. Did you try to replace the cable from the truck to the phone?

yes. I know some have phone issues because of the cable. mine is a constant, first call either incoming or outgoing has no audio, they can hear me but I can't hear them. Hang up and call back and everything is fine for the rest of the trip.

Before my wireless CarPlay device I would call my wife and hang up soon as I got in my truck just to get it over with.
