I believe ECO mode may also reduce the fan speed for the climate system, but it's probably negligible at highway cruising. With the Hybrid in "L" you get maximum regen, same as getting a perfect 100% braking score every time you brake, but be warned, unlike EVs with 1-pedal driving, max regen in the MAV does NOT light the rear brake lights, so be careful if you're a lot of traffic. L does NOT have any effect on the e-CVT gear ratio or any other effect that I can find.

For max MPG I find ECO mode + L gives the best results, but it won't be very much different than just driving in normal mode. For a small pickup the Hybrid Mav already gets outstanding MPG in city/mixed driving.

The other day I was driving behind a Rivian that must have had 1 PD. The brake was constantly going on and off. They would accelerate and then the brake light would illuminate. No traffic around us.
What a pain in the ass to follow.

I assume you mean on a hybrid since you own one? No idea. There's really no difference in an Ecoboost.
My Ecoboost feels like it needs a tune up in Eco mode and that makes me mash the throttle more.
In my Not so humble opinion the two ultimately stupid things are the fact that Ford put Eco mode in an Ecoboost.
The other is the start stop crap on a Turbo Equipped engine.

Climbing a long steady grade, 55 mph, nothing serious.
Turbo is running at say 25% boost.
Red light stops you. Auto stop start shuts down the engine and denies a still spinning at 10, 20 or 30,0000 rpm turbo,
denies it a pressurized oil flow, its red hot.
Cokes up my the turbo. Stupid stupid stupid.

I have had my Mav for just over a year and just took my first long trip in it. We had to go to Texas from MS. I was a bit bummed on the mileage, getting about 33 mpg. The road is pretty flat, so not much regen going on. Adaptive cruise worked well, except the few times I had to do the braking to avoid idiots that haven't learned to drive! The seats were relatively comfortable, so not a bad trip as far as the truck is concerned. The tiny tank is a problem when mileage is about the same as an ecoboost. As far as modes, I gave up changing to eco mode last year. It's not something I am going to remember to do all the time. Next trip will probably be in the RAV if we don't need the truck. It is a bit more comfortable and mileage is 2 or 3 mpg better.
Agree on the hybrid and really flat.
Was doing same mileage down to Ozarks thru flattish MO from Clinton.
As I approached Springfield and got some variety - up to 38/39.

Not even regen, it's about enough decline the ICE can turn off for coasting.
And then on the inclines with eCVT and motor assist - way better than most vehicles would get.

Good news on tank - same size actually, when it says 0 miles left - do the mental math for 2 gal left minimum. Actually - tack that figure on when it says 25 miles left, so 75 or 80 extra.

As others said, there shouldn't be a significant efficiency change at constant speeds.

But I run Eco Mode because it makes adaptive cruise on my 2022 much smoother. Normal Mode adaptive cruise is jarring with slow reaction times followed by harsh acceleration/braking.

How many of you switch from ECO to SPORT mode at a red light when you are next to a Toyota TACO?
Unfortunately most Taco owners know their truck is slow as Shi*. They rarely take the bait. But it's good to be ready!
