Greetings everyone, this is my first post here.

I have a 25 Maverick Hybrid XL AWD 4k tow package. I have a strange issue going on right now, when the dome light is in the "doors" or "automatic" position, and the vehicle is on the lights stay on and pulse brighter and then dimmer. If the vehicle is off they respect the door open and closed. I do have an appointment for the dealer to look at it tomorrow, but curious if anyone else has experienced this?

Things to note:
- I've had the vehicle for 3 weeks and it has about 1k miles on it
- This started after the 4k towing package upgrade
- However, I also have the TPMS light on because the sensors for the 24 don't work in the 25s because they changed the frequency. I've intentionally not fixed this yet because if that is causing the issue, then there are other software issues that need to be addressed. There is zero reason that a TPMS sensor should cause this problem.
- My windshield washer fluid light comes on at random
- The other day I had the collision avoidance system light come on for no reason and at the same time my windshield washer fluid light turned on.

I think I might have some gremlins living in it somewhere, any thoughts?

thanks in advanced.

Update, I found some crappy little GPS tracker added to the truck. I unplugged it. I'll be interested to see if that makes the issue go away.

What is a "4k towing package upgrade"?

Is your windshield washer fluid tank filled to the top?

The 4k upgrade was the firmware update that was done for the recall, and the windshield washer fluid was topped off. I could see it at the top of the reservoir and hadn't even used it once the first time it popped on.

I just created a thread on the same thing today about a GPS tracker I found:
https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/found-of-those-those-dang-gps-trackers.82722/

I wouldn't think that would cause your weird issues unless they used wire taps and got some wires crossed or something. My GPS tracker just plugged into the ODB2 port.

Your post is what made me go check, but I am pretty sure its tapped directly into the wires. I'm going to have the dealer that is looking at it tomorrow document everything. I bought it from a dealer 100 miles away, so they won't be touching it.

As I looked through the documentation, I found no disclosure of this on anything I signed, plus almost all of the paperwork is barely legible. It was light when I got it and now almost impossible to read.

I'm going to reach out to the bank for documentation tomorrow, as well as the dealer asking for legible copies of everything I signed.

If that device is tapped directly into another circuit it can introduce issues. We've seen that with people tapping into the rear wiring when adding a receiver hitch and trailer wiring (without a proper plug and play wiring harness)_.

Please circle back with the fix.

good luck

So I just heard back from the Ford Dealer that they think it’s the TPMS sensors not working that is causing the pulsing light.

The technician said that it’s a reminder to program them.

I had rims put on and they had the 24 sensors in them, not the 25s. I have new ones to go in when I can get into the tire place, but there is 0 reason that not being able to communicate with the TPMS should cause lights to stay on and flash.

I will update when I confirm that fixes it, but there is no way on God’s green earth I am going to pay $600 for tpms sensors from ford installed.

Based on what I have experienced with my 2025 Lariat Hybrid, yes, TPMS issues cause your dome light to pulse.

I purchased used rims and had new snow tires and TPMS sensors installed by my local Walmart. They used Bartec RiteSensor RS-2000 sensors and a Tech550Pro to program, but the sensors refused to program. I even walked through the process with him, no luck. They did the right thing and refunded me the cost of the sensors. Since then, the TPMS light was on and my dome light pulsed. And I would get an alert message daily in my Ford app. I kept the dome light off while driving until Spring.

Found the Bartec relearn procedure;
OBD Connect
> Inflate tires to placard
> Following on tool prompts, Read all sensor IDs using tool
> Following on tool prompts, Connect tool to OBDII port
Tool will prompt you to ensure the key is on/engine off
> Continue to follow the tool prompts until successful relearn is indicated.
> Once IDS are written to the vehicle via OBDII, the vehicle will be in a Factory Reset Mode (Dome
Light and TPMS light will be flashing) and require you to reactivate the sensors while the ignition
remains on. Once completed verify the light is off.

Spring, I mounted my OE wheels to their new rotation locations. Drove to my Ford dealership for an inspection figuring they would sync up on the way. Nope. Drove another 2 weeks, TPMS never recognized the factory wheels. Had another dealership appointment to address recalls, told them about the TPMS light and dome light issue and they claimed to have never heard of the problem. "The dome light should have nothing to do with the TPMS system." Technician looked in his computer, found nothing. Ran the TPMS relearn procudure on the truck ( I could hear the horn chirping) and everything was back to normal, including the dome light.

I'm not sure if the TPMS system would have synced back up had I mounted the wheels back to their original locations. Kind of frustrating that a tire rotation forces a manual relearn.

Anybody know how many TPMS sensors can be programmed in? If only 4 at a time, I may look to clone the OEM sensors.

There is a way to manually pair your sensor, it involves letting a little air out of the tires. I’ll try and remember to look at YouTube later for the video and share it.

Here is the link to the video:

OEM Motorcraft sensors should automatically sync after ~10 miles and/or a couple key cycles (provided their frequency matches the vehicle's TPMS receiver frequency) whether installing new Motorcraft sensors, or rotating your tires.

Many aftermarket sensors (like the Schrader brand commonly sold at Tirerack) require a high-value tool (~$1k) to sync them. Some shops have them, many do not. It's able to sync multiple manufacturer's sensors as well as multiple frequencies.. All (3) of my local Ford Dealerships were not equipped to sync Schrader brand sensors...

The issue I believe you have is the receiver in your truck is looking for 433MhZ sensors (25-26 Mavericks) and you have 315MhZ sensors from a 2022-2024. I suspect you're going to need to purchase 433MhZ and swap them. If you stick with Motorcraft they will likely self-learn. If you go that route you can sell the 315's here in the classified section to re-coup some of your $$, I just sold a set of unused 315's. The list price for the OEMs is ~$83 each however ford.oempartsonline.com, Levittownfordparts, etc. may have them much cheaper.

Good luck

Thanks Johnkn, I just received the new sensors today. Going into Discount tire on Friday to get them installed.

Never would have thought the TPMS would do something like that. Seems to me if they put that logic in there they could have just as easily put a warning message on the main screen.
