At 5300 km (~3300 mi) the touch sensors on the passenger's side door handle that lock/unlock the truck completely stopped working. Went to the dealer today, told me it might be fixed by tomorrow as long as it's something like a loose connector, but if they have to replace parts there's no ETA.

Has anyone else with proximity keyless entry experienced something like this?

Interesting, I wasn't aware they were on both sides of the vehicle, like an actual key lock, that has only been on the driver's side for 15 or so years.

My Fusion has it on all 4 doors. When I got to check out a trainer sample I noticed the Maverick only has the markings to lock on the front doors. Probably saves cost a little on sensors. I assume all four are viable for unlocking, however.

Only the two front handles are equipped with either lock and unlock sensors, the rear door handles are fully passive.

Yes. I picked up my Lariat on March 19, by March 24 the keyless entry on the drivers door handle stopped working. On April 12, I dropped my Maverick off at the dealership. Sadly the truck sat for 2 days before a technician finally looked at the problem. No parts needed, it was simply a software issue and was corrected within a few hours. A reset of the keyless entry functions solved the issue.
PonchoB, if you still have an issue, mention this fix to your dealership service department. If they have questions, tell them to call Galpin Ford in SoCal.
Good luck

Thank you for your help. My dealer kept my truck for four days without updating me, the clerk that received my truck would just be "dunno" over the phone. I went that same day to press him to check, and the service manager apologized for the clerk not bothering to walk 20 yards for updates. It was a software bug as well, they also reset, firmware updated and recalibrated the keyless entry system. As for why it took 4 days, it turns out they did the gas tank recall (no damage on my tank, thankfully).

Mine stopped working yesterday. Neither key fobs unlock the door automatically. Went to dealership yesterday and they said it might be a bad battery in the fob. They changed the battery with no result. So I'm taking it in for service May 9th. My display monitor had also frozen on two occasions. Going to have them check that out as well. Had the truck for 4 months. Hope this isn't becoming a pattern.

UPDATE: Went into the door lock settings and turned off proximity function. Waited 10 seconds and turned it back on. Door locks seem to be working now. Before you take your maverick in for service, try this. It worked for me.

Would you please tell me how you got into the setting that allows you to turn it off? I can't seem to find it. thanks

Reading all the posts on those "failed" touch handles, it's really amazing that almost all of them never referred to the settings or the owner's manual first ....... rather they took the truck to the dealer wasting time. ........ PLEASE RTFM first!!!

Why don't you show us in the manual where it gives the fix to resolve a failed touch handle that was working and then stopped working without any explanation?

Don't worry - no one will be holding their breath...

Thanks, I'd like to see it. I looked and didn't find it.

Sure, let me search for "oh, by the way, if one of your door handles quit, be sure to turn the system off then on and that will unintuitively resolve the calibration issue".
Wait... Oh my, there's no such thing in the manual.
Not only did you not read the manual, instead of being helpful you decided to be nasty and add nothing of value to this conversation.
Thanks for nothing.
