It happened to me shortly after acquiring the vehicle about a year ago.
Then it just happened again.
I suspect others are having the same issue.
The reset sequence did work (again).
I almost went to the dealer to inquire about the fix, then I remembered the forum discussion some time ago worked.

So...again..

Here is the sequence..to reset the intelligent door access ( i.e. touching the door handle to lock/unlock)

In park..start the engine.
on steering wheel - press menu
scroll to - Settings - press ok on steering wheel
scroll to - Vehicle - press ok
scroll to - Locks - press ok
scroll to - Intelligent Access - press ok
Then reset by…
Hold ok - to turn off
Hold ok again - to turn on.

Stop the engine/ exit / and test the touch lock...

..your touch handle locks should now work..

FWIW there is a TSB for the dealer to reprogram the BCM to address this issue.

Thanks for the information, Rich. I was just what I needed to do, as the driver side door was not responding to touch, as it should. I completed the steps you outlined and it reset my door. I was going to set up an appointment to take it to the dealer, which meant an inconvenience of 1-2 weeks without my truck. Thanks again, and this is what the MTC is all about.

TSB or SSM?

There's a TSB to reprogram the BCM. In the interim in the settings screen you can disable and re-enable intelligent access and it should fix it temporarily.

SSM 50939

2022 Maverick - Front Driver Door Can Not Be Unlocked Using Intelligent Access - Built On Or Before 13-May-2022

Some 2022 Maverick vehicles built on or before 13-May-2022 may exhibit a condition where the front driver door can not be unlocked using the intelligent access (passive entry feature). This may be due to the software in the body control module (BCM). To correct the condition, reprogram the BCM module using the latest software level of the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS). For claiming, use causal part 15604 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

TSB or SSM?
That's a semantic difference. Supposedly SSMs are when Ford's engineers are less confident in the cause/remedy. So it's possible reprogramming the BCM just makes it start working again since it effectively hard resets the module.

SSMs are generally brief messages whereas TSBs have formal documentation providing a detailed process. Similar but not quite a semantic difference.

Also quoted your earlier reference with SSM # and the SSM itself for OP's reference in this thread. :)

Was it not doing anything at all before the reset? Mine isn't working correctly most of the time. When I approach the locked vehicle and grab the handle the doors don't unlock and instead I can hear power locks locking the vehicle again. If remove my hand and grab the handle again I get the same result and I always end up just reaching in my pocket and unlocking the door with the key fob.

Just a thought..when you ‘grab the handle’ be sure to only touch the back of the handle..not the top..or it will lock vs unlock. The lock sensor is on top of course..

Good suggestion, maybe it is the way I'm grabbing the handle. I'll have to try it later.

My IA stopped working. Dealership protocol was to replace door handle . If that didn’t fix it they replaced BCM. Now working correctly.

It is great to have a resource forum. Just had this happen again and could not recall the steps from last time. Guaranteed the dealership would have been of little help!
