Prolong Engine Treatment

Anyone use Prolong Engine Treatment in their Maverick? I have used it on previous vehicles and was just curious if anybody is using it in their Mavericks.

At the risk of igniting a long string of back and forths, my answer is I have never used it or any additives nor will I.

Over the years I have read several articles and read my owner's manuals that say to avoid additives.

Bottom line is, it is snake oil. My words, not theirs.

The best practice is to use the oil that is recommended for your vehicle, oil filters recommended and determine the proper change interval based on your type of driving.

If those products really provided an advantage, fleet owners would use them. Word is, they don't.

Lucas oil stabilizer is one I recommend. I used it in my 98 ranger differential and manual trans. It helped the diff last for 100000 miles more after it started making noise at 150,000. 2 quarts or so plus the rest 75-140. In my manual trans , 2 quarts and one atf. Still had original trans @ 303,000 miles. I’m sure there are lots of opinions here, but this is ( my) real results tested. One thing to note, the trans shifted 10 times easier and smoother after adding.
