I cannot seem to get this connector undone. What am I missing? I've tried pressing on all of the obvious places, even used a thin spudger to press down what I assume is the section that latches just above that blob of paint on the connector. Does that grey piece need to be popped out first? My plug-n-play plug looks to be the right size and wiring, just no grey piece in the squeeze-down area of the latch.

I got it, that little grey 'lock' just took a little more effort than I expected.

That is a new connector for 2026 models. Not sure why they went this route but it does make it more challenging based on my experience.

May have had some complaints of lost overhead lights due to disconnects? Seen those types of locks on fuel injector connectors on my '23 Superduty 7.3 gasser.

Mopar uses them for a variety of connections, too. Usually the lock is red or orange, so it's more obvious that 'I need to be worked first!'

I also wonder if it's like the security bolt in the bracket over the gateway module connector where you plug in current model autostop eliminators: Too many people mussing about with things they don't want you to touch.

I got it all in, filed a round notch in the plastic cover for the cable to pass under, and programmed. Garage, shop, and gate all working, no more having two remotes hanging on the visor. The bonus was finding out that newer versions of Homelink work with Ghost Controls gates, so now my wife's truck (2022 RAM) opens all three without an extra remote in the vehicle, too.

I just got done transferring my Hyundai Palisade Homelink mirror from my wrecked '25 to the new '26 and it was a lot easier this time. Rather than tap into existing wiring I just run the power liner along the headliner and down behind the a-pillar (out of the way of the airbag) and into the fuse box and use one of the 3 prong tap a fuses and put it in 18/19. I know my method doesn't interfere with the airbags as that one blew in the wreck :-(.

I found this mirror while looking for the cheap Kia one that was mentioned in the threads from the early days of this mod but that one had gotten very expensive. I took a look recently at the mirror I bought for around $30 a year ago and it was about $250 now!

It doesn't help that my eyes are older and my dexterity ain't what it used to be, too.
More likely you didn't want to damage anything in the process and used less force than necessary. Also, not something you probably do on a day-to-day basis, so, it's an unfamiliar task. Glad you were able to disconnect it.

Unfortunately the deteriorating dexterity is actually from a career of wire work in telecom; hardwiring, crimping, soldering, creating and modifying a variety of connectors and modules, and so on. :p

I wasn't doubting your self-diagnosis. I was trying to have you see the other conditions that may have prompted your struggle with the connector. It's something I have experienced in my many modifications . . . not knowing exactly how the connector is released added to the fear factor of damaging the part.

No, I got what you meant. The humorous thing was another tech and myself were just talking about how our nimbleness has faded over the years and how we compensate for changes in technology as everything becomes smaller. I officially have more pictures of magnified pin-outs and part numbers than I do of my dog.
