As one of many who missed out on 2022 MY, I saw the news of order bank opening in August and decided to visit a few dealerships around me to say hello so that I'd have their contact info when it opens next month.

Apparently - one was running a Pre-Pre-Order special:

If I put $1,000 non-refundable deposit down and committed to purchase 2023 Maverick today, then they would put me on priority code 10. If I waited until August, I'd be placed on priority code 20.

And my visit went like this -

Me: How do I commit to something that I won't know what the spec is going to be or what the pricing is going to be?

Dealer: We can set you up for MY 22's MSRP + 7,000. If you know how Bronco orders went in the past, you will know what a steal that is. It routinely went for MSRP +10,000 and given the inflation we have right now, I would estimate 2023 MSRP going up by $5,000. So you can order with me now, and get the top priority code 10, or wait for 2023 order to open, and put in a pre-order then, but we will only be able to give you priority code 20, so a good chance that you will be getting it in 2024.

Me: ... and if I wait until August, can I order at MSRP?

Dealer: no we will do market adjustment when you pick your car up.

Me: hm ok. Let me think about it.

and as I was walking out he stopped me.

Dealer: Oh hold on, wait a second. I actually have a customer who cancelled their Maverick order which is already in production. If you want, you can take it over for only $5k in market adjustment.

Me: No thank you. Have a good day.

Well off to next dealer it is.

Good on you. Stand your ground and do the leg work and you will find a descent dealer. They are out there. Mine was top drawer.

What dealer was it. Would help the members here to stay away from them. Thanks

Just in case you didn’t know, the priority code of 20 would be a stock order as if it was for the dealership lot. 10-19 is for Custom (Retail) orders. Glad you walked out on that 🤡

That wasn't the Emmanuel Goldstein Ford dealership, by any chance?
