Hey everyone,

We've all been there – needing to air up tires, inflate camping gear, or even power air tools. When it comes to air pumps, there are two main camps: the portable crew and the fixed (on-board) enthusiasts. Both have their loyal followers, and for good reason! But which one truly reigns supreme in terms of convenience, performance, and overall utility?

Let's break down some of the common arguments for each, and then we want to hear from you!

Which Team Are You On?
Are you a proponent of the grab-and-go portable air pump, valuing its flexibility and cost-effectiveness? Or do you lean towards the always-ready, high-performance fixed system, appreciating its seamless integration and power?

I wait for the husky/kobalt pankcake/hotdog compressors to go on deep clearance. Happens at least once a year you can snag one for $20. I've had the same husky going on 12 years, only had to upgrade the feed line to stainless and the drain valve.

Have a 12 volt compressor, rated for 100 psi. Pumps upfaster than those 150# units.

Have big compressor/receiver on wheels in garage. Use often to inflate tires, blow air, etc.

Chamberlain made a ceiling mounted air compressor with a trouble light and retractable hose. I picked one up many years ago very cheap on a closeout and love it. I mounted it in the middle of the garage and it reaches all 4 tires on both cars. I seldom use my big compressor and have a small 12 volt for emergencies.

I have the same set up. Portable compressor under the rear seat and the main compressor in the garage.

Semi-fixed system. Unit on wheels that fits under the work bench with an air line running to the garage. Can disconnect everything and load in the Maverick for off site work. Big enough to handle large impact wrench.

I have a Craftsman pancake compressor that works well. It's quite noisy, but does the job quickly and effortlessly. However, it would be nice to have a smaller, more portable compressor that doesn't take half the day to fill up your tires and isn't too expensive.
