first i have a 24 mav hybrid and now that i think about it another question arises. BED SIZE: are all models the same bed size?
the real question : in search of a rear tow bar i feel there may be two types.
1 something calls for "crashbar" removal and install another crashbor with a 2 in sq hole for the hitch.
2 u haul n curt shows the tradional hitch with a bar n the 2 in sq and two offsets that attach to the frame.
at first i though the pic may have been s stock pic and not the actual piece but now im not sure
heres what i see online for hitches
thx n advance.....z

There are 2 types of hitches available, OEM from Ford and aftermarket. Both have advantages and disadvantages. The hitch from Ford replaces the rear bumper bar. Aftermarket hitches bolt to the frame below the bumper bar. If you use the Ford hitch you have to remove then reinstall the rear bumper which at least for me was not the easiest thing to do. There is a video on You Tube on the removal but not reinstallation of the bumper. The OEM hitch is a little heavier than the rear bumper bar you would replace which will add some weight but not a lot. Added weight reduces how much you can tow. If you want a little more weight on the back end, a little added protection from rear collisions and an easier install go with an aftermarket hitch. If you are going to be towing you should probably consider a full size spare. I'm not sure if the aftermarket hitches restrict the use of a full size spare. If you go the OEM hitch & full size spare route you will also have a bumper bar and a donut spare to dispose of. One other option is to bolt or weld a receiver to the existing bumper bar. I'm sure you will get some more advice as people see your post. Do some research on here for the various options. Hope this helps.

In answer to your first question.
Yes, all Maverick bed sizes are the same.
Because you may not have the opportunity to actually see one.
Here is a picture of the mounting of my OEM Ford hitch. The OEM hitch actually slides into the bed support/"frame" member and is bolted in place with the two silver bolts.
Factory installed Hitch AND Wiring $100 when ordering.
Definitely worth it.
Good Luck
This is what a factory install looks like.

thx you answered a few questions as for some reason i had the impression there were 2 bed sizes. I bought my mav off the lot and the first thing i looked at,beside the price, was the hitch or lack ther of. A c note would of been a bargin but it sounds like the crash bar hitch is out of stock. BUT i did get wheel locks on my steelies??~~!!! (car dealers, gotta love um)
