I finally go around to installing the 4K hitch surround that I purchased from @brivander - excellent product by the way - however during installation I managed to lose the tiny little gray plastic 'lock' that slides into a recess in the plug to lock the little tab, presumably to keep anyone from squeezing the tab and removing the harness plug from the 7-pin connector while your driving, lol lol

To better describe what I mean, imagine that you are trying to remove the wiring harness from the receptacle that your trailer lights plug into: there is a little black tab that you have to push down on, or squeeze, in order to pull the harness from the receptacle, but before you can do THAT, you have to remove - or slide back - a small gray plastic slider that prevents the black plastic tab from being depressed.

I have search to no avail for a part number for this little gray piece of plastic, and even spoke to my local Ford Parts counter with no luck whatsoever

Does anyone have any ideas?

Ya, I know, lol, and if I had not already put everything back together I would snap a couple.
I will try taking everything apart again to provide a picture of the missing . . . wait a minute! I can't take a picture of the missing part. Hmmm . . what to do.

Here's a couple of the harness where it plugs into the receptacle - the missing piece of gray plastic would be in the area circled in red.

So, the missing piece was a "lock" to lock the tab you have to push to release the harness connector, right? It's not likely you'll find that part available individually other than from a salvage yard.

Honestly, it's not very likely the tab is going to push itself, so why bother?

My 2012 Focus was missing the locking piece from all of the ignition coil connectors from the factory. I've not had a problem with them in 148,000 miles, and those connectors go through a lot of vibration.

No clue, probably not a part number for that small piece in the retail market. Maybe search junk yards??????????? Good Luck

Thank you @OleFordGuy and @Tbone289
I tend to agree - not worth worrying about, and my OCD will eventually move on to SQUIRREL something else, lol
