I have a '23 Lariat Hybrid and use an iPhone 11 and use corded carplay. I've tried both the USB and USB-C connectors in the front and the charging is almost non existent. I have to lock the phone and only get about 2% charge on my 90 minute commute. The same drive in my mustang yielding a complete charge with about an hour of driving to go... both used the cord for carplay.

Is there anything I can do to get more charging capabilities or is this what I've got until I'm ready to void a warranty by changing parts?

FWIW I did try the wireless charger WHILE plugged in and it actually took away battery % haha

Charging times can be limited based on the cable. Try a new cable. I have the massive Galaxy S23 Ultra and it charges it just fine. Over 90 minutes, I have gone from 50% to full in the Maverick.

I'll give that a shot. I used the same lightning cable that was in my last car (Mustang) but it's definitely worth a shot.

Yeah I have the same issue with charging. It’s extremely slow. Phone is iPhone 13 charging with a certified Apple cable. So I just have been chalking it up as it’s just slow but I’m curious to hear from others on it

I have seen a few people that have had the lower console USB ports replaced under warranty. I am not sure if their symptom was slow charging or they completely failed.

If you have a rear console charging port that can use the same cable, I would try that to see how it does for charging. The big difference will be that it can only do bluetooth audio connected the rear ports, it can't do wired Carplay or AA. But I think it'll be an interesting data point for finding the root cause and getting it repaired by the dealer (if it's not the cable).

Using the USB-C, my Galaxy S-23 charges fine. I do not use the wireless charging pad as it makes the phone very hot. I have also set my phone to stop charging at 85%. Now in the Chevy Cruze I had, when using Android Auto and running Waze, the phone would only maintain what battery battery life it started with.

I downloaded an app called Ampere Test that will show you the power of the charging source while a device is charging. My charger in my office is 11w, a wireless charger I have at home is pushing 4w but the USB-C in the dash is so slow the app won’t actually read its power is so low.

I had a 90 minute drive today and left the app running the whole time… nothing. Just flashed a message saying the charger is “very slow”.

I wonder if I got a dud or if that’s common.

something is wrong with either your cable or your truck. I've had 2 lariat lux and both charge fairly well when plugged in. (the wireless charger is a joke, though.)

Take the rubber tray out of the wireless charger and possibly your cell phone case off to get your cell phone closer to the charger. Be sure the charge cable you are using is a good one. You may need to get a stronger charger to plug into power point.

I suspect you have a problem with that port. My Galaxy S22 charges at a pretty fast rate. So much so, that the phone gets warm. It will easily take the phone from 70% to full in a quick 20 minute drive.

Does the Maverick see the iPhone when you plug it in and start Car Play?

Wondering if it is an Apple vs Android thing. I don't have my Maverick as yet but in my Jeep my Samsung phone charges fine, a little slower than wall power, but still quite acceptable. My wifes IPhone 10 hardly charges at all using the same port.

Yeah the Carplay works on both the USB and USB-C port, but both barely charge if at all. I tried the Ampere App on the USB port too and it wouldn't register either. I'm going to try the ports on the back of the arm rest next to see if they charge with any kind of speed.

Could be, but unfortunately all I have are IOS devices.

If a cigarette lighter USB charger works properly maybe just get a wireless CarPlay adapter and call it a day. Not having to plug in is bliss once you have experienced it.
