So Ive had my Maverick for about a month. I took it on a 2K mile road trip and it has several rock chips to the front of it already. 3 to the hood 1 to the fender and a few specks on the front bumper. I feel the paint is really soft or something to take on this kinda damage already. At this rate at 30k miles its gonna look like a 100k car fairly quick. My truck has just over 3k miles on it and the front is getting peppered up already. I'm not real thrilled about it. I think im gonna get touched up and put PPF on the front. Is anyone else's damaged like this already?

There are several threads about soft paint. Short answer is yes, others have seen it.

Threads like this one make my decision to have a paint sealant applied upon delivery very easy. Long McArthur will make it shine in no time. The five year warranty will be well worth investment to guard what's become widely known as a substandard factory paint job.

A Lund Aeroskin Smoke Hood Protector will also be installed by the pros in Salina. Gotta protect the new baby as much as possible.

I'd strongly suggest you do a whole front end PPF if you're worried about paint chips. My Mav caught a few in the first 1k. My Hyundai didn't have any after 18k, and a lot of tailgating on the freeway vs keeping away from trucks and shit in the Mav...

Maybe some of the paint chips issues are the result of us taking delivery of 30 -45 day old cars and the paint hasn't fully cured/hardened?

According to Google, "It can take at least 24 hours for the paint job to cure, but it is a little more complex than that, so I am glad you asked. A 24-hour wait time on a paint job is good enough to drive your Mustang around, but professionals will say the true cure time is between 30 to 90 days."

Modern day paints are water-based and typically less durable. Every vehicle will see them. I am not trying to diminish your concern and I feel for you,

strongly consider PPF - they sell it for a reason -
As soon as I saw that on order options it was added. May have been a constraint for a time but well worth price of admission. Adding front fascia soon , odd it wasn't offered at the time I ordered - not sure they will, and using door edge ppf on on underside lip of fender eyebrows . That's an area that seems that it will get pretty beat up. Also those headlamps - weather tech sells lamp guard... Best of luck to all !

Thats what im doing now. The paint is shit on this thing. This is the first brand new car I ever bought myself. And to have it look like this after 3k does not make me happy. I ordered a paint chip kit to touch up whats there already and next is to PPF the entire front of it. Im gonna order the 3M stuff on amazon and have a go at it. Lol

It's pointless trying to protect the sub-standard paint on these vehicles. Your best option is to just accept you've been screwed over by Ford and that your Maverick will look like a hoopty in 50k miles.

On my vehicle (and some others) the paint literally just peels right off on it's own. It's barely adhered is the problem - but Ford refuses to admit it.

My experience is if the paint gets touched by ANYTHING it's just waiting to fall off...

Twist your dealer's arm into at least giving you a free bottle of touch up paint, you'll need it.

I'd just add that the Maverick was also the first car I had purchased new. Previously it had always made far more sense to purchased used but the car market was out of whack enough (and the Maverick seemed cool enough) that I took a chance.

I was excited that I'd finally be able to keep a car in the condition it deserved. I tenderly babied my Maverick only to find out that it didn't care how much love was showered upon it - it was destined to become an ugly wreck.

Im considering doing PPF on my front end myself.

I did my door sills and they got progressively better from definitely good enough to almost perfect. The only issue with the almost perfect ones (the two front doors, I started at the rear) is the bottom edge, it's not perfect but no one besides me knows that (and everyone else because I like to point out my fuckups/learning experiences). I had to trim length because I used a 6" roll to get maximum coverage, and my cut job was lacking to say the least.

It's not *that* hard, but goddamn, the pros make it look so easy. Experience matters a lot. And prep.

Did you use the 3m stuff on amazon? I havent found a roll big enough to do the hood in 1 piece? Ive done some window tinting in the past and did some vinly wrapping on a friends car. So I dont think it will be to bad. I may do the smaller parts first as I dont wanna waste a $150 peice of PPF

The Maverick isn't too difficult to ppf compared to most vehicles. The valleys at the back of the hood and wheel arches might be tricky for DIY install but the bumper is easy enough.

Did you diy? Do you use soapy water so the tape does not stick instantly and you can adjust it until it dries?
