Well I thought it was a cute way to keep the wasp from colonizing my receiver hitch. I bought a MaxxHaul 70429 Trailer Hitch Cover with 12 LEDs Brake Light, Black, 2 inch from Amazon. It works fine except the truck disabled my BLIS system and when I use the left turn signal I get a warning that the trailer light is out. Anyone have an idea how to get around these issues? If not, I guess I will be returning it and going with the classic rubber cap. :(

The solution I've seen is to use a separate CURT trailer wire harness tied into the one of the tail lights.

You may find that your hitch receiver light also blinks the brake LED when either turn signal is running. This is because standard trailer light systems combine the stop & turn functions on each side, which are separate on many vehicles like the Mav. This adds another wrinkle to the existing problem where the truck detects a trailer on the connector. I think the only way to get what you want may be to tap into the circuits independently and run a new 4-pin trailer style connector just for your hitch receiver lamp. This would let you activate the marker LED from the truck's tail light circuit and the brake LED from the high-mount stop light circuit. Both are calibrated for incandescent bulbs so the extra load from your LED should not affect normal operation. These signals should all be available in the harness behind the back seat on the passenger's side.

You will have to switch which pins in the 4 pin plug on the added light is powering the LED circuit. Someone posted which wires I do not remember you will have to search. The truck recognizes the trailer plug being used and thinks there is a trailer attached. I will see if I can find the post.
Edit to add: cannot find it. But consider this. I assume your device comes with 4 pin plug. The sole female pin on end should be ground for your device the adjacent (should be it's power input) power it (or whichever pin is it's power wire) with the running light wire in the trucks 3 female pins (I believe the center one possibly a brown wire). You will only have power with running lights workin not with turn or brake signals. If I remember correctly the other two wires for left, right, brake are cut in the device 4 pin plug to prevent the add-on device from indicating trailer and setting truck to tow mode. If your device will not work it may be pulling too much current. Relays are available which require their own power supply to handle the running, turn, and brake lights and not signal to truck trailer is connected. I may look further when time permits.
