Stumbled upon this, and it reminded me that an awful lot of the damaged Mav pics I've seen are guys getting rear-ended, wonder if this might be a nice addition, but I've never seen one before.

Supposedly if you plug into the trailer plug it disables the backup camera .

Could always wire it into the 12v plugs on either side of the bed.

I've seen them around never used one. Rear ending in a truck is an issue. I guess because the brake light is so far away from the back of vehicle. Person not paying attention and misjudges? I bought my first brand new vehicle in 2005, Nissan Frontier. Got rear-ended at a stop light after about a month.

I think minimum height for a 3rd brake light is 15" - anyone know if the Maverick hitch receiver is that high?

Plugging a trailers electric 4pin does not disable the backup camera on my Hybrid Lariat.
I used one on my Saturn. Having one down low like that is good for helping those staring at their phone to see you brake.

put out like 1200 lumens, also you can replace the brake light bulb on the back of the cab with same LED bulbs Which is far more visible than one down low at the trailer hitch receiver- Joined

I wonder if this could be overridden with FORSCAN?
See them on a lot of pickups and not sure if they help. If one doesn't see the other 3 brake lights I don't see why a person would see this one and as noted it may affect the back up camera and blind spots if the truck thinks you are towing a trailer.
Having said that it can't hurt but need to sort out the back up camera and smart wiring issue if it exists.

Anyone find one that actually fits? I bought one and apparently the hitch on the maverick is different. The hole for the pin is in a different place and the light stuck out about an 1", it couldn't sit flush. I couldn't drill another hole in the light because it would have gone through the LED's. Thanks
