Stumbled upon this, and it reminded me that an awful lot of the damaged Mav pics I've seen are guys getting rear-ended, wonder if this might be a nice addition, but I've never seen one before.

I installed one of these from Harbor Freight on my '11 Ranger. I like it but I don't know if it minimizes rear end collisions. I plan to install tailgate strip lights if my Maverick ever arrives.

I think minimum height for a 3rd brake light is 15" - anyone know if the Maverick hitch receiver is that high?
The Maverick has the legally required 3rd brake light.
This is a 4th light. In my state it is legal..

Don't think using the 4 pin connector disables the back up cam. Maybe if you use the 7 pin on 4k models. I had one on my f150 a cover no light thought it would keep the crud out. But it came in from the front of the hitch and accumulated.

I've seen them around never used one. Rear ending in a truck is an issue. I guess because the brake light is so far away from the back of vehicle. Person not paying attention and misjudges? I bought my first brand new vehicle in 2005, Nissan Frontier. Got rear-ended at a stop light after about a month.
That's why I put the Alla 3rd brake strobe light bulb T15/921 2pk $18.00 from Amazon

Plugging a trailers electric 4pin does not disable the backup camera on my Hybrid Lariat.
Good to know.
Most of us still waiting for a Maverick so we can't test these things.
Maybe the 7 pin is different.

Thank you for testing this.

Supposedly if you plug into the trailer plug it disables the backup camera .
Plugging in lights, or a whole trailer DOES NOT disable the back-up camera.

Plugging in a real trailer DOES disable Blind Spot warning and cross traffic alerts, if so equipped with Co-Pilot 360.

Now, if you have the 4k tow package, there is a work around. You can disable the disable. For rest of us, I don't think we can. So consider that.

People with 4k tow package and Co-pilot 360 see if there is a tow menu setting for trailer length. Set trailer length to 3 feet or less and blind spot warning should not disable. I have no such menu in mine.

Does plugging in brake light kit disable blind spot monitoring?
