Sorry about formatting I’m on mobile.

Someone asked a very good question on the Facebook page.

T he XL and XLT only have the driver window one touch down only. The lariat has all windows one touch down and up. Could you buy the lariat window switch/switches to implement that feature or maybe you need to also add it in with forscan?

That's one little feature I'd love to have. My car has it and I use it more than I ever thought I would. Is it just the switch that controls it or is there more involved I wonder?

Wonder if this is just a Forscan possibility 🤔

Could probably swap it from a ranger too?

I think the option is built into the SJB/GEM(body control module) as it is where a lot of electric/electronic options are handled. The remote lock/unlock, interior light controls, just to name two. I think power window controls are included. I do not know of it is a 'settable' option or there is different software downloaded/installed.

Even my Chevy Cruze has one touch down on all 4 windows, so yeah it's an annoying omission. Kinda like my Cruze not having sliding sun visors. These automakers skimp pennies in odd places.

I prefer to not have the one touch, it has always annoyed me when I have it.

I think it is more of a marketing decision than "skimping." The end result is that there are less expensive options for those who don't care for the glitz, which is great!

Honestly these options are standard on most similarly priced vehicles so it does feel like skimping when you have to upgrade for this or push to start or the intelligent key. They should’ve just offered the option separately and I’m sure people would’ve opted for these ‘convenience’ features

I have to ask. What is the advantage of one touch down windows?

It lets you eat your McDonalds french fries so much quicker once you pull away from the drive through window. One click on the up switch and your other hand is diving right in the bag to find everything but the french fries you're looking for. Every second counts with drive through food.

So, the door wiring is completely different with or without one touch up/down. Without one touch, the window switches are hardwired to the motors and the 3 passenger doors are wired directly to the drivers window switch.

One touch up window equipped trucks have individual control modules for each door. Each module has it's own power and ground feed, independent of the other doors. The modules are connected to the door switch packs via a 1 wire LIN bus network, and they communicate with each other over the trucks CAN network.

I'm not saying it's impossible, but at the bare minimum you'd need 4 door modules, 4 window switches, 4 door harnesses and 4 window motors, and that's assuming the body harnesses are compatible.

This made me chuckle because I went through the McDonald's drive thru about half hour ago and was wishing I had one touch up when I pulled away.

Do you think there’s a way to add the down functionality to a window up module? I just began my research for this, but I was initially thinking of doing this with something like a raspberry pi. Maybe just something that spoofs a window down press for a duration of time, or maybe until the motor stops. In my mind, this may even be possible for up/down for the most basic hardwired switches.

Edit: I think I got it confused, my truck has one touch down but not up. The question is still the same.
