Here is a small Harbor freight 12V 150 PSI Compact Air Compressor

https://www.harborfreight.com/12v-150-psi-compact-air-compressor-63184.html

and here is an even smaller one
https://www.harborfreight.com/12v-100-psi-high-volume-air-inflator-63745.html
Weight 4.15 lb. Length 6-5/8 in

Make your own tank using pvc pipe.
Husky has a couple inflators (one is 120v, the other, 12v) for the same price as the HF smaller one, but without the case. If all one needs is to inflate toys, balls, etc, and once in a while restore a tire, these would seem to be all one needs.

Ford had released a DIY flex bed video with an air compressor.

For Jeeps mounting an air compressor under the hood or under a seat is often done. This air compressor is used to air up the tires after off roading or fixing a flat.

I found this photo of the back of a Maverick, and there looks to be plenty of space to put an air compressor in one of the bed sides.

Looks like the gas tank is underneath the fuel intake. What about on the other side in that place? Or is that where the 12 v battery is? Hybrid battery is under one side of rear seat, right?

If not in fender area, there is plenty of room between spare tire and gas tank. At least in hybrid but maybe not with AWD. The cubby may get in way of the 19" length. If tank can be mounted separated from compressor probably work OK. What size tank/vol tank is needed for 4 tires?
You can get the tanks seperate in all sorts of sizes and capacities without the air pumps to rig up your own system. These motors aren't sealed generally so the pump needs to be protected from the elements. Inside, under hood, fender well, somewhere water dirt and grime can't get to. I would be more concerned with how fast you could recharge the tank over tank size for tire inflation. I'd install a regulator that you can adjust to give you a balance between the two. I've only rigged up a few of these, years back, but they weren't just for tires so do some research to see what works best for that.

How about a much simpler (and cheaper) solution? Use one of these $50 motorcycle air horns that are self-contained, pull 18W, and produce over 120 DBs of sound? I used one of these on a motorcycle I used to own, and it was LOUD! Could easily mount under the hood, since it's only 3" x 4.5" x 4.5". It uses a compressor tied directly to the horn.

Picking the right compressor matters. Some are not really made to inflate truck tires. Here is a review of some of the options.

Their little 4V works well for topping off tires but you have to hold the power button. It's my leave it in the truck/got a leak away from home inflater. At home is either the 18V or the big unit in the shop.
