Heavy gage long wire if you go that route.

You're very welcome.Interesting, although I'm not entirely sure that it could fit in the available body panel space in OP's photos.
Thank you for looking it up for me.
maybe a thicker feed wire would help, I bet that would be quite an undertakingI used to pigtail to install a 12V outlet. When I plug in my air compressor it runs very slow. The outlet in the dash works MUCH better. Probably too long a run for that much drain. Might want to plan on a 12V run of good wire.
Ryobi, 18 volt hand held air compressor works great, fits under the seat, And i have a 12 volt and an ac charger for the battery.maybe a thicker feed wire would help, I bet that would be quite an undertaking
That was the first thing I noticed, as well. That cheapy 'fabric' wheel well had better do it's job or Mavericks will be the new poster child for 'rust never sleeps'.No inner fender wells?
There is plenty of space more so on drivers side but the space is open to the ground and subject to water, dust, etc. Maintenance and access would be an issue. There is on passenger rear a metal shield (on my XLT LUX) underneath and forward to the wheel well that protects something??Yes, but this looks like the same amount of space or close to it, is in the front of the bed too. I am not sure how to get to it, besides taking the bed sides off? Maybe from below?
The wiring option looks to be about the same. Just had plans to use the cubby for other things so if an other place for the compressor is there it would be a better option.
Right now I don't have a fixed compressor but I do have long hoses. The hoses go to all 4 tires at the same time so you can air up all 4 tires at once.Just thinking out loud. Is it preferable a fixed air Compressor with a very long hose, or a air compressor with a long power cord?
I have my own answer, … a long power cord.
I can see why you would like to do it this way if you were wanting to equalize air in all tires and do so with pressure control at or near fixed compressor. Could also deflate all 4 to a lower identical pressure at the same time.Right now I don't have a fixed compressor but I do have long hoses. The hoses go to all 4 tires at the same time so you can air up all 4 tires at once.
The hose splits in to two right at the air compressor with one line running down each side of the truck and each hose has two locking air chucks to attach to the two tires on that side.
You can buy the "4 tire inflation system" as a kit or build it from components. My brother got some bulk air line and fittings and made a few of these. If you do build one be sure to get locking air chucks that auto close and hold well on to the valve stem.

I'm confused. Are we looking for air horns or a small compressor? HF has a couple of inexpensive (redundant when talking about Harbor Freight) air horn kits.@MostlySafeBear Try this site

It looks easy enough to fabricate using a harbor freight 150psi mini compessor/inflator and a small tank for a lot less.
Adapting an air horn/ suspension compressor would be easier to hide inside the vehicle.I'm confused. Are we looking for air horns or a small compressor? HF has a couple of inexpensive (redundant when talking about Harbor Freight) air horn kits.
Totally agree. I have one but takes forever to fill the tires on my F150. But worked great on cars. Also carry an after jump pack.Ryobi, 18 volt hand held air compressor works great, fits under the seat, And i have a 12 volt and an ac charger for the battery.
If not in fender area, there is plenty of room between spare tire and gas tank. At least in hybrid but maybe not with AWD. The cubby may get in way of the 19" length. If tank can be mounted separated from compressor probably work OK. What size tank/vol tank is needed for 4 tires?Adapting an air horn/ suspension compressor would be easier to hide inside the vehicle.
Harbor freight's smallest compressor is 1.5 gallons and weighs in around 26lbs. I could not find spec for size on harbor's website but I bet the foot print is way to large to hide it in a body panel.
An average 2 gallon air horn compressor's specs are around
Length: 19.0″ (381 mm)
Width: 6.0″ (152.4 mm)
Height: 13.0″ (330.2
Weight: 13.75 lb (6.24 Kg)
Max Amperage: 16 amps
Maximum Duty Cycle: 30% @ 100 PSI
Air horn mfgs also produce less gal and thinner dia. tanks.
