I had a bad experience paying to get an oil change on another vehicle, so I do it myself now.

Tech forgot to screw the filter on and started the motor. Sent the filter flying and oil went everywhere. They used brake cleaner to clean the mess, and destroyed the clear plastic that covers the headlight bulbs with the solvent in the process.

Happy to do it myself now.

Kind of like when the barber gave me a Forrest Gump haircut when I asked for a high and tight/fade. Learned how to do it myself.

Not hard to learn and not a tough job to perform. Especially after you install your 2" lift.

Your manual lists 0w20 full synthetic. As discussed previously on here, Motorcraft only offers 0w20 full synthetic - the blend has been discontinued. So, if a Ford dealer was using Motorcraft oil, that's what they should be using.

my service advisor that i trust was adamant that the synthetic blend as opposed to full synthetic was the 'official' Ford recommended replacement oil. maybe it was, i dont honestly know at this point.
he tried to talk me out of the early oil change (done at 1750mi) as unnecessary so soon. i didnt care. i wanted that 'break in oil' out of there. i am sure that there are some benefits to be had from the full synthetic. but my oil will never be in the engine longer than 12mo or 10,000mi so what difference does it make? maybe if i were using a full syn i could forget about the 12mo thing and just change the oil based on miles (15,000 vs 10,000mi interval) or oil life monitor readings?
it may be true that the full syn doesnt break down and lose its effectiveness at the same rate over time/miles as other blends but im not sure the 'juice is worth the squeeze' for my usage model. i am not that guy who only changes oil based on mileage. yes, full synthetic would probably be a better choice under some circumstances. but that synthetic blend wont be in the engine long enough to degrade over time to the point where i would regret not using the full synthetic IMHO.

You go get your oil change at Jiffy Lube, you are just asking for trouble.

I did my first oil change at 1500 miles. This was done at the dealer for $92.00.
I did'nt think it was to expensive.

Eco not as expensive as a hybrid if you didn't get full synthetic.

there is a ad from a local Ford dealer (Elyria Ford in Elyria, Ohio) in the local newspaper in my town offering the 'works' oil change pkg which includes a oil drain & refill wth the OEM recommended oil filter & oil; vehicle inspection; tire rotation and various fluid top offs for $59.99 n todays newspaper. why are folks paying so much more for this service continues to confound me. i thought it might be a regional thing but i have seen numerous posts from around my area with wild price discrepancies, so my advice is buyer beware.

Got my first change today- only have about 1200 miles but I don't like leaving that first oil in there too long. Guy said they use a blend but I thought the manual said full synthetic so I asked for that. He said $110 which is about what my Infiniti is for full synthetic but turns out that price is for 5 quarts. Magically the price turned into $147 including tax, the extra half a quart, and $17 for "shop supplies."

Asked about the auto shut off which does not seem to work even when the air is off but then sometimes it will work for a day. "The guy that can diagnose that" is not available for a month. I think I will miss the Infiniti service.

No. Unless you spring for the synthetic blinker fluid and the unobtanium muffler bearing upgrade.

I recall a guy telling a coworker. His car had a bad demonstrating shaft. I was a kid knew it was bs but the guy fell for it.

My dealer said $90-$100. Walmart Auto had it for $48.88 full synthetic most major brands.

That would be for synthetic blend only. If you want / require full synthetic (like hybrid), the "works" oil change will be more.
