Omg how is the deer doing, no one cares about his injuries lol.
But to the op really sorry this happend to you. It’s like the deer wait for cars to come and play chicken.
From my experience (have had a few near-misses) it seems so... ;)

I feel your pain. We've had three cars totaled by deer in the last 25 years. I just hope not the Mav. Just replaced my older used Elantra with a newer used Elantra in April. Also hit him doing 55 mph. A big buck.

My daughter hit a deer with a 2000 Honda Civic a few weeks ago. Bent the hood, totaled the left headlight. We replaced the headlight unit and pounded on the hood until everything "sort of" fit. Killed the deer. Tough little car!!
My son hit a deer with his GF's pickup YEARS ago. Every one of my brothers and sisters and most of their spouses, have hit deer. Many friends have bumped into Bambi over the years. I never have.
We live in Northeast Iowa, so I'm just waiting for our number to come up. 🦌

Well, on my way to work today a hit a deer while going 55mph. No airbag deployment and everyone is fine. Lots of front damage, but somehow no dash warning lights and I was able to drive the half mile to the repair shop like normal, if anyone was wondering pre-collision breaking does NOT work for a deer, the more you know lol. The second picture is where his slobbery face hit the windshield. 🤬 I always felt so bad for the guys here posting pictures of their wrecked trucks now here I am, enjoy your mavericks for me today boys, you never know what tomorrow holds.

UPDATE 6/21. Quote came back from the shop at $10,721 for the damage, not totaled, and I just have to pay the $500 deductible thankfully. I'm actually pretty impressed with how little damage it did all things considered,I also learned that the headlights are 1k a pop😮.

I hit one for a bit my over $8,000. The wait for parts was the killer.

As a resident of a state that is #3 in the country for deer collisions, i can say without hesitation that i detest those overgrown rats. I dodged them for many years, but in 2018, they got me. Twice. Once in my 8 month old Jeep Renegade ($4500), and 8 months later in my Prius C ($3800). Deer hits are covered under the comprehensive part of my policy, so i paid $250 each time. I think that deer season in PA should be 365 days a year. It sure is when it comes to cars Vs deer.
