Well, on my way to work today a hit a deer while going 55mph. No airbag deployment and everyone is fine. Lots of front damage, but somehow no dash warning lights and I was able to drive the half mile to the repair shop like normal, if anyone was wondering pre-collision breaking does NOT work for a deer, the more you know lol. The second picture is where his slobbery face hit the windshield. 🤬 I always felt so bad for the guys here posting pictures of their wrecked trucks now here I am, enjoy your mavericks for me today boys, you never know what tomorrow holds.

Had a friend driving down the road in his Model T and the deer jumped on the hood, and then he ran the stupid thing over. It ran away. Good thing he was not going fast and the T can be repaired, but he is down for at least a month.

I have never hit deer but a coworker had a deer hit him in the drivers door. I have however hit a grizzly bear! I did not kill it but the cop did when he emptied his revolver.

Those of you in portions of Ohio and Pennsylvania already know this but, we made a road trip from NC to MI and then to CT a few weeks ago and driving along I-80 eastbound it seemed there was 1 deer carcass on the edge of the roadway per mile. Plus the ones grazing just off the pavement.

I've hit them in the past and it sucks having to get the vehicle repaired.

The venison tastes good though ;)

Oh Deer?
OH DAMN!
Buck Fambi !!

They are worst than squrrels 'cause they can kill your car and you if they hit you just right.
I took two hits just before getting my Mav.

Sorry they got your Mav.

So, I never actually hit one that did any damage, but I did have one jump from an embankment and land on my hood. Just a little ding in the hood.🦌

Your a lucky Man! ;)
Worst case is that they, instinctfully "jump" .
Which means you make contact with them with your windscreen and not with the bodywork..
That is how most fataities occur...o_O

Sometimes I wonder if the collision braking even works at all. I have seen the red warning come on but never had it brake the car. Wife's Subie has it activate a few times.

Sorry to hear. I hit two and my wife hit one in her Mustang. She hit the brakes and it went right over the front corner. Snapped the plastic bumper cover back in and you'd never know.
The bullguard took the brunt of the hit on my Ridgeline but my Highlander needed some serious front end work. I think that's enough for me..

Glad you're okay!

Tough to see that. Hitting a large animal can incur lots of damage. Imagine a cow.

i lived, work in Saudi Arabia. Many reports of vehicles, traveling at nite, hitting camels. Road from Damman to Kuwait border A 4 lane. Many drive fast. And many killed when animal peels roofline back, comes thru windshield. Nasty stuff.

Yeah, too many deer around, have to always be alert, takes the fun out of driving. Like to see a small grill guard made for the Maverick, not a huge gaudy one.

you cant get very small and still give any protection to the head lights when your talking a 100+ pounds of deer at any speed that is a lot of force to over come.
