Did you have the 360 co-pilot?
Yep I had co-pilot 360, and I loved that feature. Especially when backing out of a parking spot in a crowded parking lot, the rear cross traffic alert worked so great!

Interestingly the forward collision warning didn’t even notice the deer. It’s alerted me several times when a car in front of me has done something stupid, like someone pulling into traffic and not accelerating, but the animal was a no-go.

I have been avoiding driving my Mav in the evenings and mornings because of deer, parts availability and the repair timeline. I'm lucky to be retired and keeping my Mav in the garage most of the time.
Yeah the parts availability has me curious as to what insurance will do. If it’s totaled I’ll likely move on to an F-150 since I don’t have time to wait for an order again. Our local dealership stocks loads of XL and XLT F-150’s

My wife hit a deer with our 2020 CR-V in March 2021. We were covered by State Farm and that didn't seem to be a problem. We took the car to a reputable collision center. All seemed good until we learned the small deer hit in the middle of the grill and hurt the radar unit. The collision center could not get the radar part because of the chip shortage that was just then getting started, world-wide. They had taken some of the front end of the car apart to repair. We wanted the car back so we could park it safely in our garage rather than leaving it on their lot, while they waited the undeterminable amount of time to get the radar unit. They wouldn't return the car to us as they said it would be unsafe for us to drive. They had removed the front grill and lower bumper. It was really frustrating, State Farm would not help us in the situation. In the end they got the part in a couple of months and we finally got the car back. Hopefully this doesn't come into play for you.

That's seems pretty clean for a nearly 60mph square hit.....guessing it was a scrawny deer?

Wifey tagged a 200+lb buck in a similar manor a few years ago with her Pilot, much different picture!

DNR needs to open up deer hunting, the deer population is out of control.

Yep I’m self employed and it is my work vehicle, fortunately my business insurance covers loss of income, or at least a percentage. Which may or may not be a deciding factor for them to total it, and save them paying me for months while it’s in the shop.
I too have had trucks wrecked / lost running AAA calls :) Last one was one employee fell asleep while driving my 2001 Ford Ranger at 4 in the afternoon ( late night video games ) went across the center line , hit a Tahoe pulling a horse trailer - everyone survived but all the vehicles were totaled and I was sued by the lady with the Tahoe for 800,000. - thats a bunch of lockouts ;)

FYI: when I moved from Dallas to Texas Hill Country my auto insurance went UP 12-15% and when I asked my agent why when I had left Dallas traffic. His response was Duh! You moved to Deer and Hog capital of Texas!!!

When is your rifle/shotgun season? I'd think it would be now. It is in MO, blam blam blam all day long where I live. Or did you mean they need to make it a longer season?

Yes, the deer population is way too high. Re-introduce the wolf! Two deer have killed themselves by hitting me in the last two years. I effin' hate the barstards. We do not hit them, they hit us.

Same here. I moved from Chicago to a very rural area deep in the Ozarks. I asked why the increase in my rate and the response was deer strikes and hail damage. Sucks!

It should be, but it's not open until the weekend after T-G, then only a 1 buck, 2 total limit. Totally absurd.

We could help solve the demand at food pantries, and cut down the population at the same time, if DNR officials would get their heads out of their arses.

Well I am now in the club of damaged Maverick’s unfortunately. I was driving on a rural highway last night and collided with a deer. The speed limit was 60mph and the deer jumped out about 50ft in front of me before meeting the front end of my truck. They really do just stand there and stare at your headlights 🙄

I’m waiting to hear from insurance about scheduling a time for the adjuster to come out and look at it. I’ve owned my Maverick for 1 year and 1 month and just ticked over 40k on the odometer

I apologize in advance for the crappy photo quality, it was dark and my camera is a little messed up on my phone at the moment

Did the automatic braking kick in? All Mavericks come with AEB (auto Emer braking)

Sorry for the loss. That's gotta hurt since it's your work vehicle. I've hit a couple of deer over my life and can confirm they really do come out of nowhere and reaction time can be non-existent. I remember the first one I hit, it was around midnight and I was doing around 60 mph when it popped out. All I could think at the time is "wow, it sure got very dark very quickly!" When a deer takes out both headlights in the middle of the night out in the sticks, it's amazing how dark it gets out there!

It did not, no alert on the dash and I was the only one that applied the brakes, the truck didn’t intervene at all except for the ABS engaging after I stabbed the brake pedal
