I don't know what the problem is with the OEM Continental tires. Mine are doing a great job! Been sitting in my garage unused since I swapped them out at 5000 km in December 2022. They make good bumpers to keep family members vehicles from hitting the garage wall.

Good one! They might time out before they wear out at this rate.

So, maybe share the wear rating and tread depth, if you have a guage and wish to?

Asking for a friend...

He is just so curious.

Other than the spider webs they still look brand new, garage life is easy on tires that aren't on rims after all.

Tire shop said they were at 8/32s when I had them taken them off, at least that sounds about right. It was 2 1/2 years ago after all. I don't have a tread depth gauge, though I have eyed that one from PA that you have. Don't know the stock depth of them from the factory, since the specs and tread pattern are not exactly the same as the retail version when I compared them.

Hello OP, any chance of you getting your treadwear/traction/temperature rating for your tires and the approximate tread depth you are at?

Thanks,

Andy
Okay snapped a few pictures. Using tire gauge in 32 of an inch I have 4/32 left at best .There wear bars are real close too. Keep in mind its only a total on truck of 17345 total miles and I had snows on it from November 15th till March 12th both two winters So 8 month of snows out of a total time of 21.5 months of ownership. . Not sure of exact miles on OEM tires BUT would guess at maybe 10 K miles on them .Yes Tire Rack say 8/32 tread depth new but once down to 2/32 fail NY inspection and you are flirting with hydro planing. Inspection for me is due this August I doubt it would pass by then . Like I said I got 28K out of last OEM tires on 2020 ecosport before I sold it with same amount of tread left as Mav tires do now\e. . . The tires on maverick will be HALF of that. Since getting hybrid I really try to brake with ALL regeneration braking and drive away all eletric so in other words baby it. .

Torque of the system could make a difference. Hybrids do have that high low end torque, which is known to be hard on tires. That said, I have seen reports of people getting 40-50k miles out of the OEM Continentals. I know without a doubt that the front tires on the Maverick wear much faster than the rears. I have to do longer than recommended rotations to keep them close to even.

I didn't get far on the OEM tires on one of my earlier cars either. Got 2 years of light driving out of some Goodyear tires (no idea which ones, but they were factory OEM) on my 2004 Corolla. I doubt I put more than 8k miles on them before they were toast.

Interesting, the wear rating is 500 while my Goodyears are rated at 680...what a difference that seems to make. At 3000 miles now, my tires are still at 10/32nds, which is what they come with.

That is super low mileage on those, and I know I don't go close to the wear bars.

Those tires must be quite sticky, at that rate and hold onto the road...I would hope anyways at that wear rate.

I can usually start feeling hydroplaning before 4/32nds, so I try to get them down as far as safely possible, do my research as to tires and get better ones at least by middle of October here in Manitoba...winter is always coming.

Thanks for posting your info and photos!

Andy

Now to go refresh on the temperature rating difference between our tires...

I have a 2023 XLT hybrid delivered August 2023. with the CONTINENTAL PROCONTACT TX 225-65-17/ I have just over 17 K miles. I also have another set of wheels with blizzak snows. So for two winters used those. Yet my tires MIGHT make it to end of this summer. So maybe 11 K miles on the oem tires. .

Anyone else have this bad a result??? I drive slow too.

My previous vehicle was a 2020 ecosport I sold just under 3 years 28K miles and the tires were about the same as mine are on maverick. BUT that had 28K BUT also had snows for the Ecosport too for winter. So the Mav oem tires REALLY are BAD.

Is it just me???

I think I will get Hankook Kinergy PT tires next. ........... 90 K warranty If I get 60 K I will be happy.
It's deception.

On mine the wear went SIGNIFICANTLY LESS the second half than the first half.

My dealership had the nerve to try and sell me new tires at 17,000 miles.

I am now at almost 39,000 miles and will go well past 40k on the stock 2022 XLT Hybrid tires. And I TOW a lot a lot of the time too.

It's as if the bottom 4/32 is much tougher rubber than the top 4/32.

My advice: STICK WITH IT and don't buy tires too quickly.

I already purchased Hankook Kinergy tires and they are just sitting. Because my stock ones keep going and going.

Like I said, the tread wear is NOT linear. It slows down.

I would like to add, that some of the manufacturers may shrink the tread depth, but my Goodyear tires aren't one of them by the looks of the present tread remaining at:

5000 km/3000 miles
at 10/32 tread depth

I should have measured them when new, but life was very busy at that time end January.

Any other drivers that have new tires to measure their tread, or add their tire type/mileage and tread depth remaining?

Would be interesting but right now, from this thread, Continentals are on my bad list.

I replaced my Michelin Primacy on my 22 hybrid Lariat with Continental True Contact Tour 54 which cost $175/tire 11/32" tread with treadwear 840 80k mile tire. Really like them, rotated once at 6k miles have about 9k on them. Do not have gage to measure.

22XLT AWD…I have 25k+ on my original Continentals…..probably will be able to squeeze close to 30k. I am ok with them but definitely wouldn’t buy them as a replacement.

Hybrid 2022 - Continential tires and just past 30,000 miles and still have a lot of mileage/tread left.
Well, there you go...I guess it depends on which batch you get. New retail or a more slender treaded one...gotta always check the ratings on the side and tread depth...and check once in awhile as per normal.

My truck has 14300 miles on it and the OEM continentals still look brand new and ride amazing. Whenever these do wear out I'll either get the same tires or something very comparable to them.

It's a known fact that factory tires (continental) are inferior, extremely thin side walls, and only have 8/32 of tread. I removed mine at 35 miles and replaced with Michelin Defender (12/32 of tread). On other sets of Defenders I have consistantly got over 100K miles (4 different sets, not on a Maverick). The Defender is aslo far superior to Michelin Premicy from the factory.

When I lived in the suburbs and did lots of stop and go driving my tires wore faster. Tire pressures also matter. How heavy I am with the go pedal matters. Now that I live rural and it is all highway and back roads driving my tires seem to be seeing minimal wear and I am easy on the go pedal. So there are a lot of variables to include road surfaces and condition as well.
