Anybody using a bluetooth obd dongle that actually does Android auto wirelessly

OBDII is a diagnostics port, you can get a bluetooth adapter for that if you want to read fault codes and such with an app on your phone, but it has nothing to do with Android Auto.

For wireless Android Auto you need a USB dongle that connects to the USB ports below the AC controls. The most popular ones are called AAwireless and Motorola MA1, both can be found on Amazon. There's many threads and testimonials of fellow members using either, personally I use AAwireless as it seems better built.

I got mine from Amazon. It works well with android auto and works with video too.

Yeah the reason i went obd2 was that i was using AAtorque to have SOC, rpms speed & tire psi showing on radio screen, but it wont work with Android 13 system anymore

So now the big question - Does it shut down before the 12V battery is dead, or is it just a constant drain?

Oh, I understand now. Unfortunately Android cracked down hard on the kind of stuff you can display on the car's screen, and now apps have to have their Android Auto experience certified by Google, and gauges like those are non-complaiant. Your only option is to root your phone so that you can bypass the limitations in Android Auto.

I've tried before by installing modded Android Auto versions on my phone, but they would work once before google services would kill it and force a legit app update.

AAwireless, as far as I can tell, does have a battery saver low voltage cutoff, though my front USB ports go dead as soon as you open the door with the engine off, like the stereo itself.

I'm reading in the comments for the installation of AA Torque that having an AAwireless adapter and enabling developer mode in the settings of the adapter allows the app to work on Android 14. If you'd like, once I come back from vacation on May 27th I could test to see if it I can make it work on my phone.

Yeah thanks, my phone is the crappy A14 5g, and i did the dev options for Android auto as well, it just did a update, but maintained the 13 but went UI 5, beyond my technical knowledge, people online say force update but i guess the us is staying 13 unless you buy a phone with a Android 14 system already built in

I unplug it just in case, i make a point of driving the truck once a week because of the deep sleep issues, so far so good

wonder if you use the OBD to BT it on to your phone, then AA-wireless or MA1 to make it wireless on the dash but it does play corded
