I have the PCM failure issue/limp mode after a previous update but can't get this recall done. Is anyone experiencing this issue that isn't eligible for the recall? I've had this happen four times now and Ford says I'm not eligible for this recall. I'm not sure how the heck I wouldn't be eligible but here we are. Really frustrating to get stranded on the side of the interstate four times with an apparent fix available but not for my VIN.

Good morning. Would you please send over a private message with your VIN and dealer info so I can look into this PCM concern on my end?

Only a small number of Mavericks are included in this recall....if yours isn't included, they won't do it.

BUT, it is just PCM (plus other related modules) update. If you are having those symptoms, one of the first steps would probably be to update all of those modules anyway....

So you don't really need the recall done. You need modules updated. It would be the same software whether or not you have the recall. Just latest PCM update. (And possibly BECM, SOBDM, SOBDMC & ABS as well).

Don't focus on the recall. The service department should be able to update all of those modules easy enough. (And then do some additional diag to make sure there isn't anything else going on too!)

I've got mobile service coming Wednesday. I'm assuming they can do all the updates or would that need to be scheduled at the dealership?

They should be able to do all of the program updates!! (Assuming you are in an area w/ good internet/cell service... it isn't reliable where I am, so I wouldn't attempt that with mine.)

Apart from that, I'm not sure how much diagnosis the mobile service crew would do.... that would all depend on the dealership!
