I'm having trouble finding out the railcar number for my Maverick that is in transit. This information was given to me for my last two vehicles, but ford customer service chat told me that they do give that info out anymore and the sales mgr. at my dealership acted like he couldn't find it.
Anyone else experiencing this?

I have been out of the "harass Ford Customer Support for info" game for about a year now, but....when I WAS in the game, "chat" on the Ford website was vastly better at getting good info versus calling someone on the phone. I see you say you chatted, but maybe try a few more times to get a different chat agent? If that still doesn't work for you, your dealership 100% can see the info in VINView. Maybe if you "name drop" the name of the system the info is in, they will be more willing to stop gaslighting you with the "we have no idea either" story.

Nope. My salesguy gave me my number no problems two weeks ago.

I am assuming they won't have that info until it actually ships? I said I wasn't gonna worry about it, but now that it says "Built" but not shipped yet.... I need something to satisfy my addiction! 🤣

I'm not one for giving dealer's the benefit of the doubt, but he might be telling the truth. I'm not sure if it applies to you, but for anyone that had a truck fabricated the third week of January and is still waiting on delivery, there's a good chance it was part of the gas tank recall.

Those trucks were unloaded from the rail cars weeks ago, but they put an indefinite hold on the trucks at the depots so they can't be shipped to the dealers until the recall is fixed, which isn't planned until Q4 of this year.

Ford seems to actively be trying to hide this information, as despite knowing which trucks are affected for over two months now, they are not informing customers or dealers if their truck was affected nor making any kind of notation on the order that it is being held for the recall.

One of the only ways to find out is to check the VIN with the NHTSA. The only other way to confirm is to call Ford's recall department and manage to dig through eight layers of phone menus to get a real person who will look it up in their system. The NHTSA website below is a lot faster.

If you are affected by the gas tank recall, like me, see the thread linked. Long story, short: Your best option is hoping your dealer will order you a replacement truck and transfer everything over to the new VIN. Otherwise, your probably not seeing your truck until between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I feel awful for those affected by that. Is your dealer working to get you a different truck? Or are you just waiting?

647 days and still counting....

Got a replacement truck ordered and scheduled with my private offer and price protection transferring over to the new VIN when it's generated. Should be here mid-July.

The only silver lining on the whole experience is that will push me past the 90-day waiting period so I can save ~$800 with the X-Plan pricing now.

I found phone numbers for Ford but no "chat". It says chat and the hours to do it, but there is no link to actually chat? 🤷‍♀️

My dealer sent me a screen shot, and said there is no rail info. Only that it is coming by rail. Sure enough, there was no rail info. Possibly a new change?
