I just went out and looked at my 2022 Maverick XLT Ecoboost FWD and it has the foam insulators inside the fender looking in with the doors opened up.

2023 XLT Lux FX4, no insulation.

Doesn't bother me too much, but now I remember seeing the windshield washer reservoir through the passenger door gap a while back and thinking it was funny. Not funny like "haha" - Funny like "this poor MF has been penny-pinched to within an inch of its life!" :D

As I have said multiple times on this board: it is those who ordered a $30k+ truck who are going to have complaints. Sucks for you guys, but I ordered the cheapest truck and hybrid on the market (even with the XLT package). IMO it shows a lack of understanding of the production process to expect a higher trim truck to not have the same basic corners cut as does the base model - you're slapping $10k+ of lipstick on a $20k truck. If I was looking at spending $30K+, probably wouldn't be looking at a Maverick (or really, any truck currently on the market) at all.
Never understood why people would tech the Maverick out. I ordered XL with most default options. The dealer added something don't remember, but I feel good on the purchase. I do notice areas which capture my attention on the 'cost cutting' factors, like the seating, speakers/audio system, bumpy ride, back camera, front hood blind spots, tight steering wheel, etc. However, even with the basic XL trim, the pickup is awesome, love the simplicity of the buttons on the dashboard. I did add the Ford bed package which looks nice with the Cactus Grey. I would not add any other features on a truck like this. You can get a decent toyota/honda/subaru trim with some fancy features for $35K+. For $25K I expect the basics and on the Maverick, Ford delivers.

Fellow Maverick owners- I had noticed being able to smell oil/engine bay smell(s), when opening passenger door… come to find out the normal black foam/rubber or even insulated carpet material found on most all vehicles was missing!? This is the area behind both door hinges (driver/passenger) that is the fender to engine bay openings. I have attached a couple pictures. You can see where the insulation would attach with a retainer clip….? Is my Maverick the only missing these?, is your’s missing..? Is this another cost cutting? If cost cutting, I will have to add my own, one for noise and wind and etc, but also I don’t want to smell or hear or feel engine bay nuances…?? Never seen this before guys? This is both sides! As you can see the washer fluid reservoir passenger side, and driver side is the same….

Must be missing. I cannot see through on either side on mine.

Now don't go throwing shade on us Lariat owners on your 2nd post as a new member. I'm 55. I enjoy a few of the tech features and was able to afford them. I enjoy adjusting the lumber support with a touch, setting the intelligent cruise control / lane centering with a touch, opening up the power sunroof with a touch, 1 touch to roll down all the windows, sliding open the rear slider window with a touch, and listening to the just good enough sound system on a nice cruise down any back road.. I used Forscan to enable the FX4 drive modes, traffic sign recognition and eco coach screen; my wife loves those (go figure)..

If I was a younger man I would have gone for the XL if it could have been equipped like it was in 2022. The XL was better in 2022.. more colors... you could order the sunroof and manual slider... and you could enable the missing cruise with an Ebay sourced FORD Mav OEM switch for $40 and enable it through Forscan... You could also enable the additional drive modes that the FX4 package carried while you were in there configuring the Cruise (you can still use Forscan to do that). With the spray in bedliner, the 4K Tow package, the AWD, and CP360 (gave you power mirrors and a few safety features). You could build a very impressive truck for about $29k. Watch Ebay or the Forums and eventually you'd find yourself some XLT wheels. Watch the junkyards and you could find the rear seat out of a wrecked XLT to gain that rear armrest it you were concerned about rear passengers riding in style :D .

You get the picture... Effort / Cost / Benefit Analysis... The math works different at 55. :)

I'm clearly late to the party here, and not sure how I've missed these until now, but my '22 XL Hybrid does not have them. Frankly, I'm not sure if it was supposed to, but MAN is there some serious wind noise in front of the doors. I opened the doors and sound-deadened them (replaced the speakers, since the stock XL ones sound like a wax cylinder gramophone). Speakers are much better, but it made little difference to overall noise. Just bought these and the Lariat fender blocks. Here's hoping they help.

Agree- I better not hear any more of this stick to the budget truck XL concept nonsense - We wanted a full featured truck without the Mid/Size girth- Got exactly what we wanted with our loaded Eco/Lariat/Lux/4K/FX4/Moon-Roof.

Everyone has different priorities. I got the 2024 base XL and I like the steel wheels. For bed accessories I bought a motorcycle which fits in nicely :) I'm 65 btw
Best I can tell I don't have that door/fender gap that OP mentioned.

Curious about the Lariat fender blocks. First I’ve heard of this. Any more info/part numbers?
Thanks!

A few previous posts mention them. P/N is M1PZ7840380A (same both sides). TBH, I'm not 100% sure where they go, but I think they squeeze in at the top, behind the dash. I'll post some pics once I install.

Awesome. I’ll be looking for it. Not sure how I missed that as I read this thread a few times before installing the pads. Thanks!

My 23 has some thick soft black insulation filling that area on both sides.
