My wife has an Android phone and I have a basic flip phone .
It seem to me that you must have an I Phone to be able to do all the things that ford has to offer .
Neither her phone or my phone will not charge in the docking port.
Ther is other things ,I just can't recall then at the moment.

Hi Nerner, I'm certainly no expert but after having my truck for a couple weeks and my Android phone for forever, I've found I can certainly charge it on the charging pad, although it takes a long (long, long) time to charge. Some functions are different based upon the info system you have in your Maverick so I can't say what functionality you might have without knowing if you have SYNC or not. Did your dealer go through the process of connecting your wife's Android phone to your car system so you at least have Ford Pass? If so, at least some functions should be readily available. There is a lot of info on using phone functions with your Maverick system in the Owner's Manual. If you haven't read it through, I'd suggest it. (It helps some to have a teenager near to decipher some of what they are saying.) I learned a lot from that resource. Doubt you'll ever be able to use your flip phone for much with your truck - but hey, it fits nicely in that mysterious cubby to the right of the radio, so that's something!

Swappa sells dirt cheap iPhone SE's Gen 2 mint for around a hundred bucks out the door. Gen 2's will run iOS 17 so you will get the Apple Maps download feature. I'm partially a Luddite but even I had to move out of the flip phone scene. ;)

How old is the android? My wife's Galaxy S3 would not work on her 2015 CRV, so she had to get a new phone.

What do you mean by will not charge in the docking port? The wireless charger? Not all Android phones have wireless charging capability. In fact that feature is usually only on higher end Android phone's.

I have a tablet from a eastern european knock off brand that uses android that I use as phone with multiple sim cards. It works seamlessly through bluetooth or when plugged in to its charge port. I dont have a wireless charger on the phone or the truck.

Some info you might want to check out about Android auto: https://www.android.com/auto/
Mentions Android Auto supported on car display (with a USB cable) with Android 8+(may need to download?), integrated in Android 10. Can check your Android version and perhaps download Android Auto.
Be aware if you don’t have an unlimited data plan that some things require and will use your data.

Samsung Galaxy user here and everything works correctly...The FordPass App, bluetooth calling and streaming, Android Auto, Maps, etc.

Your flipphone probably won't do much other than bluetooth calls, but your wife's Android should work, unless it is a very old version of Android.

Yes, that's it. The phones are probably too old. Even a very old iPhone isn't going to work. @Nerner, time to get new phones. Really, a flip phone? If all you want is a phone, I suppose that's fine (with the exception that most are analog and that's going or gone away nearly everywhere) but if you want to use modern tech in a modern car, you need a modern phone.

I have a flip phone (Kyocera Dura-X). Once it paired, it has worked flawlessly for what I want it to do. Contacts are shared, I can make and receive calls and the tunes work great. So for the limited stuff I want it to do, it works great.
I have a Garmin for navigation.

How old is your flip phone? Maybe the bluetooth version is old.

Good luck.

The wireless charging pad is nice for those phones that can use it, but when you use your phone's GPS navigation (Waze, Google Maps, etc) I've found that it can't always keep up with the power needs. So I've always kept mine plugged via USB cable. Considering you need to do that to make use of Apple CarPlay, it's even more the default way to do it.

Instead, the wireless charging pad becomes a thing for my passenger to put their phone in for charging if they have one that supports it. That way they don't have to ask to insert their own USB cable.
