Looks like a sweet cherry Ranchero. Likely late 60's, pre 73 or 74. Probably has a decent motor rather than a big block

I never did understand why they went with the maverick nameplate? I bought one anyway.

A real beauty. And the driver had miscellany in the bed, still doing truck stuff after all these years.

I have the feeling the ranchero name will be brought back as an expedition that’s been Unibodied and given a bed ( more full size) possibly electric/hybrid , think f150 powerboost drivetrain in low profiled light truck , maybe even mini 3 row with 4 1/2’ bed?

I see your title is Flooding Down in Tx. I hope not. Lotsa rain pouring into the eastern rivers, flooding over their banks. So sad for those whose properties did flood.

Stay dry!

Probably for the same reason Dodge named their electric SUV the dart. That name doesn’t make me think of a stellar vehicle.

It's been wet alright. Title is reference to Stevie Ray - Texas Flood.

Urban legend was Ford pitched names to a Focus group of their targeted audience (hint: younger than most of us)... They ran the names Courier, Ranchero, Maverick, and a few others by them... Maverick was the one that was overwhelmingly favored... It's not urban legend, I actually read it in an article, but I'm too lazy to look it up again... so take it as hearsay...
