Until recently I had 2 vehicles: a 2007 Toyota 4Runner and a 2004 F250 CC long bed (V10, manual tranny). The F250 was bought new and originally my daily driver. My need for a truck that size gradually diminished over the years, until it almost entirely disappeared, so I began using my wife's cast-off SUVs for my daily driving. The 4Runner recently turned over 250k miles, and the F250 looked to be needing some significant repair investment over the next 2 - 3 years to keep running reliably, so I decided I could probably replace both of those with a single vehicle.
My first inclination was to find a recent (2022 - 2024) gold-certified F150 in the area. I did look, but I didn't like what I was finding in terms of price (my budget was ($30 - 35k), selection, or location. I did notice as I was browsing that there seemed to be a good number of used Maverick's at those dealers at pretty reasonable prices (in today's context, anyway
I then did some research on the vehicle (including on this site). To be completely honest, my expectation was that I would quickly find some attribute that was a complete turn-off for me, and go back to looking for F150s. To my great surprise, the closer I looked, the more I found to like, including the fact that nearly everyone who has bought one seems to like it a lot.
I decided to take quick look at new ones at some very local dealers. There were many more available than there were F150s. I found one dealer nearby that had >20 2025s on the lot, with 2026s arriving. I went there on Thursday (12/4) with my checkbook, and left with a new 2025 XL with the 4k towing upgrade. I paid $29,500 for it, so I am way ahead of the game re my budget, and so far I like driving the truck very much (although the learning curve is pretty steep in some respects).
